I wish you would have had a better time. Looking at the crowd from home (and cheering for Cotto) it looked like a great place to be.

It was a great place to be, don't get me wrong the atmosphere was electric and I don't regret going by any means. It was a memorable experience, when the bell rang for the fight I felt as if I was in heaven, it was just the side-show, non-boxing behavior that bothered me.

Being there, I agreed that the fans could have showed more class, particularly with the anthem, but I also think it could have been far worse. I sat right by Mexicans holding up a Mexican flag among rows and rows of Puerto Ricans, and it was all good between them.

From a boxing perspective, I loved being able to see the whole ring instead of limited camera angles. Seeing Cotto's fluidity in controlling the center and the effect that his punches were having on Margarito was great from an above angle.

Sorry for your experience, but it could have been vice versa if it was in a Mexican filled building. I'm not sure about them not talking correctly, but I could say the same for many Mexicans how they talk. Domincans fall in the same category. Your there to watch a great fight. I went to MSG to see Ruiz vs Oquendo and there were so many Polish people there for the Byrd vs Golota fight. They are very strong supporters and many times got out of hand. Especially when one spilled beer on my brother from behind due to being intoxicated. I'm sure you are a intelligent individual. I calmed my brother who is a martial artist and I was a boxer to let it go even though he did it again. People are just having a great time and alcohol affects everyone differently. Just watch the fight and mind your own business. Those PR's or Polish will just stomp on anyone against there hero. That is everywhere in the world so please I don't want to hear how PR's act when it happens with all nationalities. Oh, and **** Margarito.

Unfortunately boxing, as does any other sport, activity, political party, school, or country, attracts it share of people demonstrating poor behavior. Hagler experienced in England when he won the middleweight title, and the behavior of some of the Mexican Nationals at the Dela Hoya vs JC Chavez fight was beyond ridiculous in throwing cups of **** on Dela Hoya fans. Boxing is an intense sport, and when you mix passionate fans with beer and stupidity you get bad behavior. It's too bad and a black for boxing.

honestly man i think it had much more to do with the fact that it was MARGARITO that cotto was fighting and everyone believes he cheated in the first fight...i was there and i showed respect and i am rican...had it been any other fighter it wouldnt have been like that to that degree, but this happens in all sports events philly fans are the worst u,try wearing a boston redsox hat to a yankee game or vice versa ets

I'm sure a lot of it was because people believed Margarito had cheated and had no respect for him at all and that sucks because they were associating him with Mexico and he was Mexico's ambassador for the night you can say.

New York is a city filled w/ ethnic minorities... and Nuyoricans are amongst the biggest. Its called homecourt advantage...factor in alcohol, pr-mex rivalry....and what u got is a recipe for a Mexican mob-lynching. Im glad u got outta there in one piece. And in addition, Nuyoricans (from my perspective) are a lil different from natives in that they grew up on new york streets and not in a Caribbean tropical island. Kinda like New York guidos are more street then the majority of euro-italians.

That's part of the competition in all sports especially boxing. The most Mach of all sport. Hand to hand combat until one guys gets beat up or knocked out. The fans are die hard! Unfortunately, alcohol, ignorance and poor sports get too personal and do dumb things. Booing a national anthem of any country is disgusting. We are all different and have pride in our cultures, but don't boo the anthem, and don't start fights over stupid things. Sit back, yell, scream for your preffered fighter and let the cards fall. In the end, shake hands, show respect and live to see another day regrdless if your fighter won or lost. We are all human beings, we breathe and have blood flow through our veins. We all live for only so long, so have a great time and show respect to everyone.

Being a Puerto Rican, and having grown up in the Boogie Down, that's just the way a lot of boricuas are in the northeast, and really everywhere. If it was Delvin Rodriguez vs. Cotto it would be the same way but PR vs DR. There's a ton of pride in each culture, even if a lot of those people at MSG don't even know much history of PR. A lot of people just look at the flag or listening to music. At the same time, if I'm at the Cintron vs Canelo fight in Mexico, and I'm draped in a PR flag and all the accesories, there's no way I would expect to have a peaceful night with no one sayin or doin something. I remember Tyrese singing the national anthem at a Mayweather fight and boos were heard through the whole song. Unless all those tickets sold were $5000 per seat, that's about the only way you'd have a peaceful crowd, but then everyone would complain of a lifeless arena.
