All you need to know about Joe he said himself.

"I'm not looking for tough fights" -- Joe Cal at age 27.
"I know my limitations.....It would take the crown jewels" -- prime Joe Cal when asked about fighting Roy Jones when they were both prime.
"Roy Jones isn't very good any more" -- Joe Cal right before he finally faced Jones.

Nobody avoided the man with a title that wasn't even recognized by The Ring. He had a true quality win over Kessler, but admits he was going for an undefeated record and cash rather than a true test and legacy. His ass whipping of Showtime hype job Lacy, was pretty damn impressive.....but it was Jeff Lacy.

Calzaghe had great skills, fast, could adjust well, and was smart... Saldy the average American boxing fans didn't really learn of him until his last couple fights. I had to go back and watch most of his fights.

He gets overrated by some, and underrated by others. His win against Hopkins was his best win in my opinion, sure HOF fighter.. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a top 100 ATG list.

IMO, he a good fighter but never really pushed himself to prove his greatness...For a HOF, his resume is rather thin and he, himself has admitted in the past that he didnt really push himself to prove his ATG.

Also, not a big fan of his windmill style of fighting.:-(

lol I love how people gobble this up when Joe was doing his negotiations trying to tempt cowards into fights. Not only did Hopkins run for the hills, Jones was so busy trying to line up more sanitation workers while popping steroids and getting over the panic of avoiding Benn, Eubank, Collins and McClennan.

There are many quotes from Joe stating how he chased fights with Jones and everyone too, but let's face it, he is probably the most avoided boxer in history.

On a winning streak, still has fast as when he was on PED's, so at his natural prime, and showed the old adage that great fighters have one last great fight. He managed to survive 12 rounds despite Joe slipping and dancing his combos and lacerating his face with a crisp whirlwind of combos.

That RJJ would have beaten the journeyman Glen Johnson who sparked Jones out and further exposed how over-rated Jones was when not facing tailor made opponents, retired names or just the government of America's sanitation work force.:patsch:lol:

He's basically hated because he is better than Roy Jones ever was, and he did it without PED's, add into the mix he is white and British, the guy has no chance of recognition.

Well, you certainly are passionate of your defense of Calzaghe. I'll give you that. It's quite pathetic how your trying to twist your opinion as fact, but at least you have passion kid.

While you butchered the English language with horrific spelling, you also failed to substantiate your opinion, meaning you are granted no further audience with me:hey back to D list status:smooch

I don't think race has anything to do with it.. Ricky Hatton was huge over here and had plenty of fans that were ready to declare him the best if he could beat Mayweather.

Its big wins Joe lacks to be known as the best of the generation, not skin color.
