The films of the fights in the 1958-1960 era do not show a 40 plus body. A birthdate around 1930, give or take a year or two, makes more sense to me.

Yes, your right. I went and watched it when it first come out at the pictures thought it was great. I sat and watched it the other night, first time since then and it was a bit cardboard. He might of been the "Greatest" in the ring but not in the acting stakes. I enjoyed "Ali" though.

This really trivial trivia I guess, but he was in a movie in the late 60's called "Head"..starring the Monkees.

That is best story I have read on here in a while, great one. Gutteridge must have been quite a guy.

Ive always wondered what that story was all about, what was it that Ronne Kray showed him, that terrified Liston?

Also read a small interview with Foreman somewhere recently

He stated, the only man ever to stand up to Foreman and push him back was Liston.

He said Frazier tried but didnt get very far and Ali just lay on the ropes, but Liston didnt budge at all.

Tyson also stated the one man he was afraid if, was Liston

Seems Liston was everyones daddy, shame he is underrated nowadays

Around 1969-70 he appeared in a Braniff Airlines commercial sitting alongside Salvadore Dali.
