Liston was only a shade over 6 foot himself but he still fought, beat and destroyed fighters like 6'2.5" DeJohn, 6'3 Williams, 6'3 Valdes, 6'2 King, 6'5 Zech, 6'3 Clark, 6'2 Lincoln, 6'3 Wepner. Not to mention 6'3 Ali.

Size would not be a problem for Liston.

    Don't then, because he didn't.

Haye has a bad chin so its pretty obvious. Against any great fighter he's struggling.

Liston would decimate Haye like he did Patterson, Haye is bigger and hit harder than Patterson, but Liston was tough as old boots and would slam the jab in and follow through with his heavy handed offence, which wasn't the highest level of power IMO, but was damaging enough to take Haye out in under 3 rounds.

I'm no Liston admirer either. Quality, no doubt, but I don't think his level of opposition matches his obvious formidability.

I for one am not particularly impressed with the Bethea fight. His wins over Patterson are very impressive IMO, I don't particularly believe Patterson had a shocking chin as many do.

Don't you wish all fantasy match-ups were this easy to decipher?

Having said that though, maybe our friend Gaz knows something we don't...I wanna see what he sees or gulp down some of what he's drinking. lol

I know what Gazo is thinking here though, we need to throw out past fights, Haye vulnerabilities, Liston advantages etc because this could be a classic. lol Gazo is also thinking If this was Sugar Ray vs. Hitman Hearns I, no one would be picking Leonard due to Hearns knocking mf's into press row and being able to weigh up at 165 (which was even more freakish back then than Paul Williams rehydration today btw).

Gaz doesn't care that Liston was an effing beast upstairs and/or downstairs, that he had abnormally long arms for his height and one of the best jabs in heavyweight history which he KO'd guys with. He doesn't wonna look at how easy someone like Mormeck was able to catch and stalk Dave.

By his estimation he's seeing a rush to judgement that Liston will freely bully himself in with no shot for Haye to level the playing field and make Liston freeze his pressing...Gaz is just in love with Haye either that or the wifey has logged in and taken his place for the day. lol

    :lol::good

"Gazzo" was just trying to kill a little time inbetween him scoring Boza-Chacon and the Grant-Adamek card starting.:p;)

I thought it might be a decent matchup for Liston given that he wouldn't enjoy the size advantage he usually did...BTW I picked Haye to lose ....

I'm going to go against the wind here. I think Hayes speed power and timing cause Liston fits and Haye stops him early... much the same way as Ali did.

In reality Liston probably stops Haye and jabs him to death

He fought a 6'3 Ali and had no problems with his size. Ali was literally running to get away from Liston and he was pulling back as far as he could. Your size argument is moot.

Oh, i know you were just having a little fun and it had nothing to do with anything else...not least your spell of Carling and cushew nuts carousing. lol

Btw Gaz, you do realise that i'm also just having a little fun too with these irreverent posts, an attempt at a bit of banter if you will.

Some members of this family seem to think i'm displaying an overbearing sense of self importance or as 'Hagerman' put it 'tude' lol.

As soon as Liston lands a big left Hook - Haye goes to sleep.
