Lots of great points on here about this fight, and good cases have been made for both guys, which means that in all likelyihood, there's not much between the two of them in terms of a peak Liston versus pre FOTC Frazier. I am surprised that the word "courage" has not been mentioned more often in this thread though. Liston's is questionable imo, Frazier - well, they come no braver.

I think Liston could get on top early, the question for me is, does he get Frazier out of there before doubts start to creep into Liston's mind and Frazier starts to outgame him?

For me, there is the element of the bully boy in Liston, if he can't get Joe out of there early and if Joe hasn't taken too much stick early on, it could become a question of who is the braver. If it comes to courage, it's Joe for me.

My prediction? I think pre FOTC Joe survives the early rounds (maybe suffers a KD or 2 along the way) and outgames Sonny down the stretch...Frazier wins by tko or corner retirement sometime after the 12th.

  3. A lot of people is dreaming here... Liston was not foreman and patterson was not frazier.
Foreman was stronger and harder puncher than liston. And joe frazier was much stronger than patterson, more compact ,harder puncher, he had more stamina, more heart and much better chin and joe was a heavyweight
