Tough and exciting fight should this bout materialize. A pick em. If Guzzy can weather the early troubles and the first half, and can stand to Zorrita's power, he will outbox him for a close UD.
Soto by KO. I say Guzman's reluctance to mix it up puts him behind, and he finally gets exposed for what he is - a supremely talented fighter who has no heart and no instinct.
Guzman has pop, people overlook it because he's so slick. I don't know that Humberto necessarily has the better punch. And I say this as a rabid Soto fan.
Guzman has no pop, especially not at higher weights. Guzman's KOs have come by overwhelming guys wityh speed, not by hitting them hard. Guzman's power is below average for 130.
If you had seen my posts before, I care less about the stupid straps that in some instances awarded to undeserving fighters without a fight. To me, and I think most of the posters on this board, Pacman is #1 in that division not only in terms of accomplishment but also in terms of the drawing power, therefore, fighters like Soto and Guzman need to earn a shot against him.
Are you kidding? The guy has not Ko'd anybody in over 3 years, and cosnidering his mediocore opposition, I think it is safe to say that since he moved up in weight he has a feather pop.
Damn -- I hadn't thought of these two together before, but this fight might be the most interesting fight at 130. We know Pac can handle all of his proposed challengers (well, some of us think we know), but Soto and Guzman are both tough, rugged, and just generally bad-ass. I'd pick Guzman only because I've seen him fight more and I think he has better skill than Soto. This is still a pick 'em match though -- both guys are hungry for a big fight and will want to prove their worth.
It does make perfect sense - they're the two guys everybody's been picking as best chances to beat Pac for a long time now. Why not have them go head-to-head with the more deserving challenger getting the shot?
