I think if it wasn’t on TNT Sport PPV, it would have just been on Fite TV as a PPV. There’s an argument that TNT could have avoided putting it on PPV with the launch of the new brand but doubt it would draw enough viewers on regular TNT to warrant the outlay that PBC would expect to receive for such a high profile fight. Part of me suspects the PBC would probably have some input for it being on PPV, hoping that it sells well and generates more income.
Matchroom cult are happy to pay £27 for Whyte-AJ 2, but not Spence-Crawford. Casual fans need to get out of boxing.
I will actually pay for this for once as its literally the best fighting the best. We should support it really.
It's definitely not the biggest 147 fight since Duran v Leonard 1 ,hence why nobody really cares now unless you are hard-core boxing fan .... Boxing is digging its own grave
A certain poster wanting Benn v Eubank (which would be PPV) but moans about having to pay for Spence v Crawford. Madness.
I agree 100% and how pleased I am that I can see it in great picture and sound quality on my Sky Satellite box. I will gladly pay for this PPV event on TNT / BT Sports Box Office.
Let's hope that TNT / BT Sports enter into a permanent agreement with Premier Boxing Champions. They have had some incredible boxing events so far this year. We need to see these fights here in the UK.
You are right about the gimme fights for pretty much all of the English lads over their hand picked Americans. I remember when I read that they were putting Coyle in with Algeri I knew it would end in a bad beating for Coyle. That is an example of very poor Matchroom match making. Algeri beat Ruslan Provodnikov, Coyle had no business being in there.
I’m fine with it being on BT, at least they will make a fuss of it. It’s a very big fight within boxing, anyone who claims it isn’t knows nothing about the game.
PBC will know roughly how many PPVs it would sell on Fite TV because a lot of their recent shows are on there, so they’ve probably opted for TNT hoping it can sell more and generate more revenue.
