I'm not saying size and advantages with physical dimensions don't have an effect in most fights between bigger and smaller men. Those factors are reasons for the different weight classes. I'm just pointing out that in certain match ups, they aren't the deciding factor. There wasn't a lot of holding, leaning and putting a lot of weight on Gamboa in his fight with Terry. He was using superior boxing skills, footwork and intellect to dismantle the Cuban boxer. In that fight the psychological impact came from one guy operating a few levels north of the other. Frustration, fatigue and the accumulation of punishment degraded the confidence Gamboa had going in. Ultimately it proved to be too much. It had very little to do with the difference in size and more to do with the style and skills delta between the two.
whether he was being outpointed is debatable, but its a 12 rd fight and many fighters give up early rds to take over fights later. whats not debatable is that spence was beating brook into a pulp before knocking a chunk of his face loose, something only a guy 20 lbs bigger than crawford was ever able to do.
i dont think theres such a thing as a stylistic nightmare for Crawford. It's Errol's power to the body that would do him in. TC too thin of a frame for some of those blows.
He is not walked away from one yet so why would he now?? Funny both Garcias and Broner have all said they "wanted" Crawford but THEY won't make the fight and now you "question whether Crawford will take the fight. Based on what evidence?
Spence will retire undefeated. I said the same thing about Ward 10 years ago and look at him now. I know a rare talent when i see one and he is a very rare talent. And yes i wont thousands yes thousands on the Brook fight
I believe TC has a great chance vs all except Spence and maybe thurman. I have to see him get caught like vs gamboa but from a legit ww
Spence does have that rare IT factor, but also the drive, talent. He has the IT, which comes from the inside, it's separate from the talent. Once we find fighters with that plus the talent and head, it's very difficult to deal with. Anyone can get ko'd, that's the only way certain fighters could lose. They refuse to lose and know when the have to step it up. I've been high on Spence since his amateur days, pro style. I just had to see how he handles adversity, handles it as best that can be. He's the WW ruler, had been for me since he became ranked.
It's a great fight, the longer it goes the better for TC. Once he gets to Thurman body it'd a wrap. Thurman would have to land early, he could easily do. Early Thurman or mid to late TC. Only ways I see the fight play out.. very dangerous for both
Both Thurman and Spence specifically really are monsters at the weight. People look at Keith as small (he's just short), he's actually very big. I think Keith's speed and power and (so far durability) will be too much for Crawford. Spence, well Spence is just a damn JMW fighting at WW. He's a boogeyman guy. Crawford is tough and has dog in them, but he's not significantly faster, definitely not physically stronger, and has less power than both. They've also stood up to hellacious shots from much bigger guys. You're right, I wanna see Crawford get hit by a WW first. But even then, a normal WW isn't throwing shots like Thurman or Spence.
Right now this fight is a toss up, because Spence is still not proven as a great, that will take Floyd's place and Crawford has proven hes the man and no hype job, but this is the weight class that can match him in power, speed skill and size. Some fighters can match him in skill not many though. I got Spence Jr wining this fight in a legendary fight that goes down in history, like Hearns Ray and Hagler Hearns.
Why are you all raving about Spence so much, all he has shown so far is that he had his ass kicked by Kell Brook for 5-6 rounds and then his eye socket gave in, this is a random thing, there was probably 1/10 chance he would break his eye socket in that fight, only reason why Spence won was because Kells eye socket broke.
