Just shows that you know **** all about PPV. You honestly expected two guys making their PPV debuts to generate 1mil buys?
400K is nothing to scoff about. Especially for two guys who aren't household names. Look at the first PPV's of a lot of guys. Usually around the this mark. 750 to 1 mill was never realistic with these two.
Those are horrible numbers considering purses and money they spent advertising the fight like every 5 min and the shows on fox leading up to the fight!!! García got massive attention from the Spanish speaking media!!! I have only seen Canelo ever get more!!! I think because of the gate this became profitable! But hold on wait a minute.....we don’t know what kind of business deal MR JONES had where maybe he puts his hands on the gate money.
Not everyone is fmj and pac. When odh and tito were at their prime 400k was a MASSIVE success Fmj killed it, never to be the same again
The selling points were there alongside the gargantuan push by FOX: Mexican Mikey in Texas Young and undefeated prime pound for pound fighters History-chasing fight for Mikey
What this shows to me is that PPV is definitely dwindling. Wilder, Fury, Spence and Garcia are some of the sports biggest names and none of them broke 400k buys. If your a Gervonta or Charlo type fighter you are not making eight figures without fighting a pound for pound fighter. Surely a decent DAZN or ESPN deal would be lucrative for these guys with gauranteed money
Those are excellent numbers for a dying ppv market, especially considering it had an extremely weak undercard and this was Spence and Garcia's first ppv. What kind of idiot expected this to do 1 mil ppv buys?
Anyone thinking it would do a million doesn't have a clue. No boxer has ever broken 400K on their PPV debut without a bigger name to support it, not Mayweather, not De La Hoya or Pac. These numbers are in line with what Mayweather, Pac and Oscar did when they debuted on PPV as the main headliner. So it's a solid first PPV for Spence and Garcia.
