Well done, you just won the prize for the most blinkered ignorant post on ESB ever. The handy ignore button wins again.
You ever met Spencer ? I think not, I guess you live a sheltered life, confined to a small bedroom with a PC , poster of Hatton and Hatton blowup doll. I suppose this forum gives you a chance to court a bit of publicity which you then discuss with the Hatton doll.
Robin Reid DID win that fight, by about 7-5 or 8-4, even with the stupid referee. The judges ****ed up, there was only one person landing anything effective the entire fight and that was Reid. The only reason Reid didn't pile on the pressure and knock Ottke out in 6th is because he was terrified of being disqualified. The truth is after that fight it is very difficult to take german boxing seriously. 5 years on, and it appears like nothing has changed. Stop defending the indefensible and sort it out.
Of course it's blinkered, because I'm British and I didn't think it was a robbery. I watched the fight live and I wanted it be a robbery, because my guy lost, but it wasn't robbery - it was just fighting away from home. I'm bored of hearing this myth of Ottke-Reid for 5 years.

The cut happened some time before the fight was stopped, and never got any worse according to Danny himself. (I have to assume he had a pretty good view). The cut only seemed to become "dangerous" at about the same time Platov looked like he was going to get beat. I suppose you would say that this was entirely coincidental, but you would be wrong, despite your use of the crazy emoticon.
I'm not suggesting anything, except he was cut and the fight was stopped. Now, Spencer Fearon and Danny Williams' opinion on what happened is one side of the story. The other side is in German. It just isn't a very good example of corruption from what I can see. Sorry about that.
I agree that was not the worst thing to have ever happened to a British fighter abroad, more of a bit of hometown help rather than outright corruption. However, the Airich affair was blatant, dishonest, illegal corruption. The ref had clearly been "well looked after". The tape on Danny's glove was a good indicator: When Airich was in trouble, Danny was led to his corner to get it fixed. When Danny was hurt, the ref frantically tried to wrap it himself, and on another occasion Danny had to sort it on his own. The ref was a cheat, plain and simple. If that wasn't bad enough, how about the promoter coming over and ringing the bell early, just when Airich was getting battered? That fight was one of the most corrupt spectacles imaginable, it's beyond belief anybody can think otherwise.
This weekend was ridiculous, worse than anything I've ever seen in Germany. But, I thought the referee was just crap, to both guys. The tape coming off Danny's gloves was more of a danger to Airich because it's your opponent who is going to get the tape in his eyes when you're hitting him. And the standing 8's gave Danny time to recover after being rocked. It was just an all-round bizarre situation, but with being in Spain I can't blame Germany for it.
Yeah that happens pretty much all the time. atsch Its like people have magnetic eyeballs and suddenly the tape just flies in there. weird.
When tape is coming off a glove why do referees stop fights to cut ir or get it reapplied? I'm pretty sure it's because you're not supposed to throw punches when loose tape is coming along with the shots.
