Leonard wasnt great at pressuring other boxers.

we saw that in the Hearns fight and had real problems hitting a moving target and only caught up to him after tommy slowed down

He didnt catch up with Norris at all. Terry just had too many tools both offensive and defensive

That's what makes Pernell vs Sugar such an intriguing matchup

Pernell is not as fast as Norris. He's not as dangerous but he's still tricky

and Leonard is not very good at hitting a moving target which we can see going back to the Larry Bonds fight of 1981

The most likely scenario is that Pernell walks away with a points win. Pernell TOO is a gold medalist!

    SMH.

    The gig is up.

YOU have said on numerous other threads that Ray Leonard WAS SHOT in his 1989 rematch with Hearns.

    That’s what YOU have said.

A fight which was TWO YEARS BEFORE the Norris fight.

    You are mentally ill.

Ah red you can still reel them in. Even the trolls were classy in our early days hey.

It's cute comparing Whitaker, a natural lightweight, with a welterweight more than half a foot taller with 9" more reach who's known as the biggest physical freak in 147 pound history. A guy with an ATG jab who can outbox the best of them but can also take heads off. A guy who is considered by most the hardest hitter in 147 pound history while the other is a pretty light hitter even at 135 which is, of course, his best weight.

A guy who would be giving up both height and reach against a guy whose jab gains a life of it's own against shorter opponents.

He may have changed the name, but Red's agenda hasn't changed
in all these years..... Sad though. It really is.

You seem to be at a loss for words. Again, since when are undefeated fighters finished after their first defeat?

i have no reason to fear straight out false claims that are meant to smear my reputation. I actually enjoy playing mind games and am considering entering the fun field of politics.

Nevertheless, could you please post the actual conversation so that we could all see it?

I dont recall EVER saying anything of the sort nor would I have reason to

This forum is filled with dissatisfied posters who disapprove of some of the things I say

I would like to say that I won't necessarily tell others what they want to hear. I simply tell it like it is and hopefully, I won't offend someone

but to say that "so and so fought an entire career in a key matchup" doesnt ring true.

And how about THIS ignorant statement: "Terry Norris fought a bunch of washed up fighters. Why would you regard him so highly?"

But getting back to Pernell, we know one thing for sure, that he cant hurt SRL

Moreover, Pernell lacks the speed of a Terry Norris which means that SRL has a chance. The question I want to know is, what kind of strategy is he going to use and if it fails, can he catch up to Pernell?

What if he cant "get to him"?

Pernell poses a different sort of challenge for most because he gives little to hit and seems to be a master of minimizing himself. I've even seen him squat down in a sitting position. That's how comfortable he is in the ring.

And Pernell was every bit the fighter he was at 147 as he was at 135

Frankly, I dont think SRL figures him out in time and runs out of time.

Out of curiosity, I've seen some of the posts of this Red rooster.

Some of them are quite vulgar ad outrageous and I especially dont approve of some of the things he said about you

You will never see these sort of things from me

It is no insult or disgrace to pit Pernell against Sugar. I think that Sugar is a more impressive fighter, a more classy fighter and a more talented all around fighter, certainly a real asset to the sport

but styles make fights and in this matchup, I like Pernell's unorthodox style to frustrate Sugar and although Pernell lacked Terry Norris like speed (Pernell's was more on the level of Wilfred Benitez), Pernell will resort to other tactics as we saw in the famous match with Julio Chavez

Everyone comes on here saying "Leonard is too big, Leonard hits too hard, Leonard dealt with the mammoth reach of Hitman" etc but they dont say HOW or what approach he would use to beat Pernell.

How do YOU think Leonard would deal with him?

He may have the guns, but I dont think he could actually beat him
