By all reports on this thread, it cost me more to get there than what Weida got paid. What does a promoter actually do?
Mundine and Green have been fighting bums for years and both are millionaires.
DeMori won. What more can he do? He's struggling to find opponents in a mess of a weight division.
People flew interstate while the venue was still being shifted. Calloway fight in Gladstone was well run and Johnny Lewis made an appearance, Sydney (4 million people) 300 people and one third of the tickets were pre-sold interstate (10 x 10 tables seems bull**** to me but it was quoted here).

I'd be asking why your promoter can only put 300 bums on seats? Go around the corner and give another 300 tickets to the nearest radio station for free. 1xdrink @ $5 a pop for the 300 freebies and your promoter has $2500.

Build it and they will come, be a lazy **** and they won't.

The decimal point is irrelevant, the country honestly believes that a cashed-up bogan and an indigenous-Muslim-rapstar represent the epitome of this sport.

    That's good promotion.

Social media was a complete failure on this one. (Someone else has already mentioned that, perhaps Marks fault). It's f-r-e-e. No red ink.

Blaming the promotion on the competitor?

When you're headed to the grave you don't blame the hearse. Especially in a city subsidised by pokies. Marks previous two fights had the promoter actually fighting on the card.

Ask someone who witnessed the Demori-Calloway fight what happened when Johnny Lewis got in the ring. He asked if people would reach into there pockets for indigenous sport and lob a few coins at him.
    It rained $100 bills.

People aren't gonna give you money, you have to give them a reason. I'll bet Johnny Lewis made more than the whole promotion at St Mary's. Nobody ever said Demori was the Next Big Thing, he certainly doesn't take himself seriously, openly quotes his influences as entertainers and wrestlers.

......then Peter Graham calls him out and says "you've been fighting some bums mate."
Graham obviously knew about the fight long enough to get dressed and get down there, get a ticket, find his way into the ring to grab the mike.
Was the promoter aware of any of this? Plus an Ex-England cricket captain was sitting at table 1. Not a word. Imagine if that was Waugh-Border-Chappell.

This promoter couldn't start a **** fight in a shearing shed.

Who cares. I'm just trying to make heads or tails of the whole thing. The opening statement was correct. It was woeful.

Did I mention that the food was 1st Class? There's a win for someone.

I actually want to find out how good he is, that might end up with Mark on his arse against a decent opponent. Who knows. I'll have a look and I'm pretty sure he will step in and have a go.

As far as even fights go, sometimes you can adjust the rules like full-Thai / K1 rules.
    Perhaps a tag team.
When Weida dropped maybe Graham could've jumped in ready to go. Ever played an old pinball machine?
Maybe you could have a bonus round and shout *MULTIBALL* where Graham-Weida-ring announcer-who-looks-like-bobbythebrainheenan jump in from each corner and you gotta drop everyone.
What about the 15 ****en screaming kids that were running around a licensed venue? There would've been plenty of takers for that challenge.

Alex is the only decent fight here. Overseas fighters would look a his win/loss record and see it as a risk and that is not entirely accurate.
Geale is a superstar and can't sellout a venue in his home state, he'd have more money if he was a dickhead. Geale is rich in other ways.

Eight and a half years on and we are still waiting for him to fight decent opposition and see how good he is.

Correct. You could substitute many surnames into that sentence and it would not lose its meaning.

Mark aside, would you be better off leaving 12 rounders for major title fights and bringing local shows back to 3-5 rds like mma? There isn't enough talent in Aus to evenly match everyone.

Would a Weida-DeMori type match up be more appealing if it was a 3 round slug fest? Give the lesser fighter a better chance?
As opposed to 6 drawn out rounds of a possible 10/12?

What's the point trying to window dress a 380th ranked opponent when you are supposedly WBC #20 in the world? Troy Weida was an absolute waste of time, and 42 year old Rob Calloway was hardly much better.

If you think you're sick of waiting, imagine how sick of it Mark is.

I sure hope he lands Deontay Wilder because he is probably only one more dud opponent away from total irrelevance. The recent St Mary's debacle is testament to that.

    Yes Spider, true.
The exact difference between amateur and pro boxing.
    Window dressing.

They did this at Green v Santiago. Sang the national anthem at a non title fight, when he goes down early the crowd thinks he's defeated a world champ.
Especially all the gold chains and tatts at the ringside seats. Rent a crowd.

Not sure what that has to do with Mark de Mori? But good to see his following has doubled here since your arrival :good

Beating spuds. That's what it has to do with Mark de Mori.

Apparently the promoter is filthy. Did he promote Weida as a fat spud? I can assure you he did not. No one in their right mind would.

Santiago was promoted as having the identical record as Green. The moment he took his shirt off you could see the crowd reach for their pockets to realise they had been fleeced.
