No question it stalls his boxing career, and at an important time of his development too. The money on offer in Combat 8 must be sufficient enough to have diverted Browne's focus. I don't think it will last though.
By the look of the promotions and advertising looks like it's made with buckets full of gold. Few people must have a bit of cash to 'use'
I didn't know that about Browne, I would imagine you'd need a dozen names up front for something like that to work. I don't know if you could make the switch back again. Perhaps for one fight there might be interest but are there any names that are better than what he can get in boxing?
Just bumping this post for the sake of Totalpac. The article above was written immediately after Wilder beat the rolly polly in his last fight. Note the quote at the end of the article >>> "Oscar de la Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions, which promotes Wilder, said via Twitter after the fight that Wilder's next bout will be on Showtime. “He is ready for top 10,” de la Hoya said. It should come as no surprise that Golden Boy are in your words, "focused on someone else at the moment", when its own president had that to say straight after his last fight.
Yeah no surprise mate agree. Whether Wilder can get a top 10 is another thing. We will see. In the meantime, Mark will stay ready for a short notice call and Team MDM will keep putting Mark's name out there.
Been involved with Mark for to long to 'pin my hopes' on anything. Until the first bell rings, I believe nothing. He's flown to Mexico, got injured, fight cancelled, flown an opponent over to have him fail his blood test morning of the fight. Nothing is a surprise or ever a sure thing. Is still a possibility, Deontay still wants it. Will wait and see.
Dan Rafael retweeted that GBP have put a formal offer to Bryant Jennings to fight Wilder in December. May or may not come off. It seems Wilder has De Mori on last minute back up status. That's a tough prep for a fight if it were to happen.
Bryant Jennings is the real deal. Would be shocked if Golden Boy/Wilder took the fight in Jennings's home of Philly on NBC Sports.
Totalpac are you in any financial situation with MDM or are you just a staunch fan? Is the question east enough......?
Doesnt look like you're going to be shocked. Dan Rafael ‏@danrafaelespn Boy, am I shocked @BronzeBomber and @GoldenBoyBoxing passed on a fight with @Main_Events and @BYJennings on @nbcsn (sense the sarcasm?)
No financial arrangement. Just a long time friend that's seen what he's done and been through. Jennings is the real deal?. Sure going the distance with the White Wolf is impressive but 7 KO's from 15. Hardly HW boxing is it?
The white wolf retired after 9 rounds great win. For a guy who has had 15 fights he way ahead of 99.9% of heavy weights. At that stage of there careers. Look at his last 5 fights all of those opponents would beat Demori. I've seen a few of his fights very well schooled and great skills a little smallish for a heavy weight. I think he stops Demori inside 3 rounds and beat wilder as well.
So you think heavyeight boxing is only about KOs do you KOs only count for anything if the guy going to sleep isn't a debutant or a tomato. Do I need to get any closer to home for you?
