I just had to quote this one just so I can give you props on making me lmfao!!! Anyway, yeah, alot of people grossly misguided on what occured in this fight. People are right when they say Floyd fought a brilliant fight but, are wrong when they reason Floyd was trying to entertain. Floyd always fights for the win in the easiest manner possible, he has showed this time and again he doesn't care about entertaining the audience. Mayweather knew he had to stand his ground because he knew that Cotto would know how to walk him down in a controlled manner to get the rounds. Floyd knows Cotto is an outstanding boxer who knows exactly what it takes to win rounds as he does. Had Floyd gone backward trying to masterfully outbox Cotto to a virtuoso UD he would have risked giving up more rounds. Cotto would still have found his way to Floyd often enough that between what Cotto was landing and the level of control over Floyd he appeared to have would've given him favoritism in possibly the majority of rounds. Floyd, as usual, fought in the exact manner needed to to win the fight with the least effort possible. Cotto is just that good when using his boxing ability to his full extent...saying things like "Floyd let Cotto have his way" like that ****** dude said is ridiculous. If that were true and Floyd let Cotto have his way, why didn't Cotto win??...lol, people need reread what they type before posting.
Ha, "****** Dude"... :roll: When I mean he let Cotto have it his way, I mean it exactly how it sounds. Cotto would want Floyd sit there and exchange. As much as I love Cotto, he wouldn't have walked down a flight of stairs, let alone walked Mayweather down the way he fought that night. As good as Cotto is at cutting off the ring, it doesn't mean **** if you can't get the work done once you get in. This is not a hit on Cotto, he does good work. Just not that night, and not against Floyd. I don't know why Mayweather sat and traded, fought inside, Etc. But I certainly don't think it's because Cotto is so good that he would have easily walked him down. I honestly believe Floyd knew that once Cotto got in, he could still win the exchanges, and he did, often and in convincing fashion. Cotto can walk down a lot of elite level fighters, just not so much recently, but he wasn't going to outbox Mayweather that night. No way in hell. Cotto had it his way, or as close to his way as Mayweather was willing to give it to him, and Cotto lost anyway. Not because he's bad, but because Mayweather had that nonsense under control. I'm not saying that Mayweather had an easy time about it, because it was certainly work, Cotto is a hell of a fighter. But we're talking eating a lot of jabs and losing a vast minority of the exchanges. If Floyd had problems, it was problems like a master mechanic has when he as a transmission to change out. It's a big job, he's gonna have to do his research, take some time, get some bumps and bruises from turning wrenches, and get some grease under the nails, but that **** is under control. Also, cool it with the "think before you post" nonsense. :verysad Everyone has something to add, and no one needs some elitist snob discouraging strategy discussion. Good boxing, and good boxing strat are completely subjective. You don't REALLY know what Folyd was thinking, or why he did what he did and neither do I, (although, I really don't think that Floyd actually had the idea that he HAD to fight like this because Cotto would TOTALLY walk him down..:yep) we can only use our best judgement.
