I believe he would've too big, strong and mobile for Lamar Parks or either Jackson (Julian or John David), had he won the Reggie fight, and would've thoroughly outworked a weight-drained Toney.

Collins was ordinary and lucky he finally bumped up against better fighters who were past it.

By that rationale, LaMotta was just a bump above ordinary then...which isn't the case. With that said, Collins did catch Eubank, and definitely Benn at the end. But Eubank did have a bit in the tank and gave some credible performances following the Collins' losses.
Given the circumstances, that Eubank would give LaMotta a good fight. A prime Eubank is better than some LaMotta lost too. Mike McCallum also would beat LaMotta, at the time he fought Collins. Reggie Johnson would have given LaMotta a hard fight due to mobility, and so would Kalambay...I think the rose colored glasses lead to tunnel vision on here. But then practically anyone not named Greb is deemed ordinary most of the time...so that is not surprising. I think by Collins' record he lives with LaMotta in a good fight. I would say that would be a more objective rationale.
