Cunningham deserves respect, travelling about and fighting some top challenges and winning, but everyone forgets his struggles because of how everybody seemed to watch Huck-Cunningham and how Cunningham was wrongfully an underdog against the very average Huck. Huck was not a top fighter, by any means and Cunningham still had some early struggle with him. So, good fighter, B-B+ level, would get smashed early by Haye, simple as that. On another note, the other Cruisers would have their hands full with him, but plenty would also give him a lot of trouble as well or possibly beat him.
Wlodarcyzk underrated by many? Nah! He was lucky to get a gift decision against Karanevich, and showed two less than convincing performances against Cunningham. I am not sold on the Pole at all. Quite overrated IMO. Cunningham the best cruiser weight in the world with Haye gone? I very much doubt it! Although I will bet my money on Cunningham in his upcomming fight with Adamek I dont think that he is the undisputed nr.1 in his weight division at present.Based on his record he probably deserves the nr.1 spot, but based on talent and skills I would rate some other fighters above him. Anyway! Alexeev is still at cruiser weight. He will soon take over the leading baton in his weight division. Alexeev is head and shoulders above the rest of the division IMO. A murderous puncher who is fast and who can take a punch.Cant really see Cunningham,Wlodarcyzk,Adamek,Kraj,Frenkel,Huck,Bell,or Maccarinelli beat this top former amateur star from Russia!
It does, amsterdam,it does! Good point, mate! I am not always fair in my assessments.Point taken! Nevertheless,Alexeev was a mighthy force at the amateurs. His firepower was feared then. He brutally knocked out my compatriot Zuev. As you may know Zuev is one of the favourites to win gold at the upcomming olympic games in China.Zuev was the one who knocked Devin Vargas down and kicked him out of the last olympic games. Alexeev lost a razor thin point decision to Cuba's Odlnanier Solis when they met in the final of the world championchip. I have seen quite a handful of his pro fights so far.He looks great. He is cold killer machine walking through his opponents' defence as if it were non-existent throwing almost all punches with very bad intention. I dare to say that he is the biggest puncher at cruiser at present. In order to survive you can only run or knock him out.No way that you try to outbox him going toe to toe with him. I wouldnt bet a single coin on one of the present champs at cruiser like Cunningham or Arslan, or on Kraj and Maccarinelli against the former Russian amateur star.
I hope you are right. I'm still surprised by the way Adamek-Bell unfolded. I thought for sure Bell would stop him, even though I was pulling for Adamek. April 19 must've been white boy day. :smoke
IMO, Cunningham is clealy the best CW out there now that Haye has moved up. I think he will UD Adamek in a tatical boxing match.
You're the same guy that was saying Huck would run over Cunningham. Now you're denigrating him by saying...oh, there's this guy Alekseev coming up that's much better than him. Weak logic. Facts are that Cunningham's resume is the best in the Cruiserweight division and his skills are top notch. He deserves credit for being a very good fighter AND for going overseas to beat these guys. Alekseev may be the future, but he hasn't done anything yet, and therefore shouldn't be in the discussion for top of the division. Cunningham has proven himself to be the best.
There's nobody at 200 that can match Cunningham's resume right now that Haye's moved up to heavyweight. He's a cagey fighter who will be a handful for anyone. Nobody's gonna blow him out either. He'll be like another Philadelphia fighter in the sense that should he lose it'll most likely be by contestable decision. One thing that I will say about Cunningham is that he can be a major player at cruiserweight for a few years. The only thing that would go against him is the fact that his style would make him someone to avoid in the event that he lost his title. No champion would be too quick to give him a crack at their belt without a mandate.
Good enough to get past a **** fighter like Huck but not good enough to beat Adamek. Amatuer experience will show in this fight.
Very good fighter, probably the most technically sound cruiserweight in the world. IBF champ and Ring magazine's #1 contender. Has fought some great competition for a champ with his number of fights, and has a deceptively low KO ratio because of this. He carries his power into the late rounds very well, as seen in the Huck fight (finished him in the twelfth round).
Couldn't have said it better. Huck was "the next big thing" on here, USS simply put him back in his place. Give the man his credit.
