The deductions were weird. You'll never see points taken for those sort of things again, ever.

I’ve never seen Pacquiao take for the hills the way Khan does. Pac uses side-steps, moves along the ropes, fires in between punches, etc to keep things on the outside. I wouldn’t say it’s Roach who’s not teaching it, it’s Khan who can’t execute it.

He lacks confidence under-pressure, so he reverts to his old hyperactive, flurrying self, who literally runs around the ring to get away. That’s why I had him losing quite a few close rounds because Peterson was controlling the fight. Khan was landing light, slapping keep-away shots while Peterson was making his work count.

Khan’s panic is what led to Maidana clocking him too. He was so desperate to get away from Marcos that he went straight back, dropped his left and took a massive, telegraphed shot.

Basically, I don’t think Amir can improve. You need to develop that calm style from an early age but, because of his speed, he’s been able to get away with his flaws at lower levels.

100% that Bradley beats him after that display.

Not that I necessarily disagree with him, nor know better that him, but how is disagreeing wih Smoger any different to you disagreeing with the Referee of the fight? :huh

Oh yeh, it suits your argument doesn't it. :good

Can't mention Steve Smoger without posting this video..

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VVA38aN5hw"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VVA38aN5hw[/ame]

0.05 secs in > Rahman falling out of the ring.

But agree with Smoger, i've never seen points deducted for pushing before, let alone for anything as ridiculous as the second one.

    Who said that?

Most people point out, 100% correctly, that Smoger wasn't in the ring, so what he has to say is pretty irrelevant.

Maybe that just means that a lot of refs aren't tough enough?

I personally hate it when a ref warns a fighter again and again for holding, but never get around to point deductions. A certain amount of holding is part of boxing. But when a fighter repeatedly holds as a tactic in a fight, to spoil the other guy's work, then it's not only cheating but it makes for rubbish fights.

I have no problem at all with point deductions for holding or pushing. They should certainly be given. If Khan was "unlucky" with the particular ref that night, it doesn't mean that the ref did a bad job. Other fighters have got away with the same sort of stuff? Well so what? That's an argument for anything?

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how I, you, another ref would of officiated the fight. You fight accordingly what that particular ref will allow. Sometimes the ref aint on your side, but what you do, fail to adapt to the situation, lose, then use it as an excuse? If Khan could fight inside he most probably would of won, and more convincingly. He lost cause he had to start bending rules cause he couldn't adapt when Peterson started dragging him into an inside battle, only the ref didn't allow him to bend the rules to stop Peterson working inside.

And had that "knockdown" not been given it would've been scored a majority draw.

This is akin to a manager who's team gets relegated and him blaming it on one particular referring decision, neglecting to mention that actually, he had 38 games to save himself from relegation.

Khan fans are the most pathetic excuse making fan boys I've ever seen, I don't mind khan as a fighter...as a person I hate him, his calling out of his 'friend' Ricky hatton, when he was retired and i a bad place, the way he has been with Pacquiao.. It's obvious Khan is so unloyal it unreal, his team are exactly the same they are a firm of snakes.... And his constant excuses make me sick!

Let's face is Khan is no where near as good as people like to think, I only think he should have been deducted one point but again the KD was bull****! It was a close fight, no robbery and IMO the better man won.

WELL DONE PETERSON! Well deserved for a hungry humble man

I actually hope it has, Boxers will then be forced into learning an inside game, something that gradually and unfortunately has been slipping out of the sport for a long time.

My memory of that is a little different. I thought the Petronellis didn't want Gibbs because British refs had a reputation of scoring for back foot boxers rather than for the aggressive fighter. So they ended up with a Mexican ref who are supposed to like come forward fighters and he scored the fight 118-110 to Leonard.
