It might get skewed and it might be subject to interpretation, but I also feel like everyone knows a fight to be the definitive number 1 in a division when they see it. This especially applies for 2 recent cases: Donaire-Nishioka and Garcia-Matthysse. I don't think anyone could make a compelling cases for any other fighter from those respective divisions to be ranked higher. There are some cases I have disagreed with the consensus, as with Crawford-Beltran, but I feel like most lineage-creating fights are pretty clear.
The lineal championship means less now because guys like Stevenson flat out duck the nearest challenger.
Isn't The Ring owned by Golden Boy Promotion, aren't they with HBO? Therefore competing against Haymon? What Rigondeau, for how long has he not been fighting top 5 competition? Didn't he just fought on that PPV GBP card? Just questions... Anyway, I won't say I am sad to see Stevenson being strip. He kept saying he was the king since he had The Ring belt. Well guess what, you don't have it anymore! Everybody knows Kovalev is the best at LHW.
Ah, I see. Stevenson can can continue his fade back into obscurity, or he can proceed directly to ****ing off, and he can take the lineal championship with him.
