I live 5 mins away from his olympic gym. His pr in sunderland is quite big really. But the recent fights i've seen him in, he hasn't looked good. Poor in fact. Doesn't look like he's building his skills and experience.

It seems almost as if a fight is the culmination or sidetracking of all the pr stuff, when it should be his total focus. Now should be when he is knuckling down.... leave the pr to his dad or someone. Concentrate on boxing. The odd twitter now and again during the day is fine, but there can def be overkill. Amir khan's on it all the time too like.

Me and my mate were talking about his website cos my mate designed paul holborn's website, another sunderland fighter, and we discussed how it was just plastering news and pictures all over the place. No really structure or organisation. It seems like a bit of a correlation with his website and fight performance..... Actually, i've just had a quick browse of it just there. Seems like it's been tidied up somewhat. hehe :)

As great as it is to still be local and connect with his fans and the people of sunderland, there does come a point when the interactions inflate his ego/self perception and detract from his ability to learn and receive constructive criticism from the people that matter, leaving him a bit short on ideas when fight time comes round. Is that what we're seeing?

It would be a shame to see him not develop as he could have because of too much of an interactive circus going on around him. Sunderland is a pretty small place really, so a lot of people would recognise him when he's out. I'd like to see him take a meaner more focused stance to his boxing lifestyle. Moving away would proly do him good - make him realise it's a serious business, which needs sacrifices.

Altho what right do i have to tell him what to do? I'm just a fan of boxing :)

He could still make something out of his career. But he needs to change his ways. If he was unfit why the hell was he in a fight against a tough journeyman. His promoter should have pulled him out. If that fight went one more round he'd have been knocked out.

He done well to get a medal at the Olympics imo. He doesn't have a great skill set.His very limited fighter who is a knockout waiting to happen with his style. He is mentally not strong enough to take on board the pro game.

Were not talking about a talented fighter here lads...this ain't no lad who just isn't putting in road runs and the bag work etc this lad needs lot more then hard training. He needs a better trainer, focus and willingness to improve on his basic gun slinging style which has had him in wars with journeymen.

He's not gonna make the grade sadly unless he goes to Joe. I did hear Rob McCracken was being lined up from a guy i know who works in the set-up. I don't like to write fighters off at early stage because it can come back to haunt you but i think Tony has gone from the likeable humble lad to a deluded wannabe Ricky Hatton who has a army of fans and thinks he's owed something. Difference between him and Hatton is Hatton did something in his career.

Hatton had to earn the fanbase though.

He was on £3k a fight for the first 18 months..... Jeffries probably got Hatton's first two years purse as a signing on fee, then Sky £££.

Ricky's got his faults, lots of them, but you've never heard him openly criticise those that pay his wages - and at the same time ignore the best advice he's going to get without moving to a new trainer.

Says it all when the cutman gives you the best piece of advice you've received in your career and the trainer tells him to shut up :patsch

I'm not having dig at Hatton. I'm saying that Tony seems to wanna be like Ricky the likable lad with massive fan base but he isn't performing to do it. Where as Hatton although i don't rate him much actually did something.

Tony Jeffries- Just watched my last fight back for the 1st time, was horrible but i reckon I won & Glen Mcory is a big Geordie tit-no need for what he said!

Looks like he's still not taking criticism well.

Does Jeffries get a lot of press in Newcastle? I can't imagine they'll be too impressed with those geordie tit comments, unless they all hate Glen McRory

I think virtually everyone on here agrees with what McCrory said, surprise surprise none of Jeffries followers do.

The amount of arse-lickers he has surrounding him is embarassing. :verysad

just been on twitter for the first time and i went on Jeffries page and he must live on there jeez

RobPalmer also had a brief convo with him and told him he doesn't take criticism well, which tony didn't respond too kindly to, but i can see his point if someone says you basically havn't tried as hard as you could when infact you did

he could shut up all his critics by getting a re-match, over 10 rounds perhaps

Nothing wrong with McCrory's comments. In any case, if jefferies was more focused, worked harder at improving his skills and put on better performances, McCrory or the next guy wudn't need to make comments he doesn't like.

Like i said in previous post, more interaction = more distraction.
