I said on another place that once Strikeforce and Showtime are done..that Strikeforce will be gone. I agree with this.
Strikeforce will become a secondary league like the American League is to the NHL like a second division where fighters who are not UFC level but have contracts with ZUFFA go to fight.
Agree. They'll let most of the contracts run out, then renegotiate and merge what they want into the UFC. The UFC brand is so much stronger it makes little financial sense to keep Strikeforce going as an independent entity in the long-term. And with Japanese MMA dying a death, ZUFFA is the only place for A-list fighters to make money.
wow, this is ****ing shocking. another one bites the dust. say what you want but ufcs business model is proving unstoppable even when you got a good roster. i take this as a clear admission that SF were becoming trouble. the UFC roster just got ****ing INSANE!
I liked SF no elbow rule. I guess that will be gone when SF gets absorbed into the UFC. I hope this means that the tournament will still go as planned who ever wins it fights the winner of Velasquez and JDS.
Strikeforce will exist as a separate entity about as long as the WEC did. Then it will be eaten by the UFC and the fighters integrated. From a fight stand point, it will be great to see some of these guys tangle. But for MMA as a whole, there's nothing good in this. No competition breeds complacency. Plus, it cuts down on the amount of available MMA to watch.
