The championship bouts should both be great, and the supporting acts are at least interesting if not significant.
I'v a feeling that Diaz/Cyborg will be more competitive than many believe. the latter doesnt have a great record but he has been sharpening up his skills for the last few years while losing a few close decisions(Joey, Zikic) and has moved down a weightclass.
A confluence of various things. Bellator is in its off-season, DREAM is facing bankruptcy, WEC merged with the UFC (whose product hasn't interested me in nearly a decade). SF is really the only promotion that interests me at the moment...and at the end of the day I'd just much rather spend my available time closely following boxing (and basketball). I've only ever been lukewarm on MMA despite having followed it since the pre-hybridization days (when UFC was banned in most states and only available on videotapes from Blockbuster).
Good card with 2 very good title fights. Walker is an interesting story and this is a real step up for Roger Gracie. Looking forward to it. As per usual though it is all late in being put together and awful marketing. SF don't have much competition and this is why I think they are doing well. Otherwise, they would be in trouble.
Wow. Pretty good card, and it flew by! :yep Nothing against the Gracies, but a part of me couldn't help but rooting for Prangley. I mean, admitting that he has a "glass neck" and has to stay the hell away from chokes (which he failed to do )...priceless. Is it safe to say Roger is the most promising of the clan's current gen or is Ralek in the discussion with him? :think Walker should probably keep a busier schedule if he wants to actually do something in MMA...at this rate he'll be having his fifth bout at 50. :!: Lawler gave a nice effort - winning the first round and defending some subs in the 2nd...but the end was inevitable. Still, Jacare doesn't look quite as invincible anymore. A really well-rounded middleweight with power who can consistently stay upright could really bother him. Diaz-Cyborg...wow. FOTN, predictably. It's weird...Santos was both better and worse against Diaz than Noons. Better offensively (those leg kicks put everything KJ did to shame), much worse defensively. The greatness of Diaz is getting hard to ignore, and that's coming from a longtime critic. He is a consummate pro and a winner, who not only has a resume of the highest order but makes many of his victims look foolish with seemingly little effort. Not bad for a guy without much natural pop. Seeing Cris C. openly weeping with runny make-up was bizarre. It was an almost...feminine act. :shock:
I really enjoyed that card. Both Roger and Jacare have unbelievable mat skills whilst Diaz and Cyborg put on a very good fight. Nick is the man.
