Sturm is a very real chance of beating Abraham or Pavlik

Winky shouldnt be rated so highly due to his inactivity and the low calibre of his opponent and I say that as an Wright fan.

BS. Pavlik wouldn´t beat either one easily. He may beat them but he would have to dig to do so.

That´s the most likely scenario but Sturm has about a 40% chance to win this fight. Abraham is so f*ckun´ lazy

Winky was hurt by Mosley when he presented him his chin. If Mosley could hurt Winky you can be sure Abraham can do but Wright would be the favourite.

BS. Sturm´s jab is much faster than Wright and far more variable. Sturm jabs to the head and body, doubles and tripples it, hooks of it. Wright throws one jab at a time again and again and again. It´s harder and busier but that does not mean better. Their jabs are prettymuch even.

Two punchers fight each other one with a shaky chin, leaky defence and accumulation power and one with a iron chin, good defence and true one punch power. Who wins? Not that hard to call really, Pavlik on points or Abraham by UD, I lean towards the latter.

I think you meant Pavlik by points or AA by KO. ( Is there a typo there?) Styles make fights, and Arthur has a long standing habit of going to the ropes and covering up when pressured. Pavlik makes people pay dearly for that habit. This fight will not go the distance. Arthur's best chance would be to catch KP with something big in the early rounds, otherwise Pavlik stops in about 8. Abraham's other option woud be to show us a much higher than normal work rate, and keep the fight in the middle of the ring, but Arthur Abraham is not BHop, and that is axiomatic.

I understand your arguments, and I did say that I'm assuming some things when I rate Winky at #2. I think Winky can at least get back to the level of performance he showed in his draw with Talyor. That version of Winky is in a whole different class from Abraham and Sturm.

This bit about Pavlik's "shaky chin" is getting really old. The kid has been hurt ONCE in his career, and that's when he stuck his chin out for Taylor, and got hit 15 times for his antics. Eight of those shots were smack on flush. Go watch it in slo-mo if you doubt me. Kelly was up at a count of 2 or 3. Emmanuel Steward summed it up nicely: "He came out in the next round like nuthin' ever happened, like nuthin' ever happened! I said, We got a problem!" In addition, KP ate Miranda's best shots like he was having a ****ing snack: the same shots that made Abraham look like something that stepped out of a Stephen King novel!

Now let's make another assumption. Assume Mundine looks good at 160. What's the order of the top 5, and why?

My question to Sturm and the short, summed up answer by Sturm:

TS - "Would you fight a tune up/stay busy/whatever fight for less money on the undercard of an event that features Kelly Pavlik to get much more money in a big showdown b/c you would need exposure for the big time cash?

FS - Do you want to insult me, I really think you are insulting me for real. I am a world champion. I don't need no "tune up", I only want to fight the best man that are available. I why should I take the short stack on money, even going to the US. I am not obligated to American sport fans. We are giving the masses here over in Germany world class boxing, too. And for sure, there will be much more of this in Germany. The Americans should come over here if they wanna fight...

That is a very disappoing answer to your question. Pavlik is an HBO fighter, and HBO will never buy a Sturm fight without a build up. Do you think Sturm would fight Pav in Germany, or is he banking on the hope that Pavlik would not agree to it?

Pavlik, abraham and Sturm are the Top3 right now at MW. below them is a gap and then you got all the Sylvesters, Duddys and so on.

So these three guys who all got there adv. and disadv. but nevertheless on the same level, should box it out within the next 12-18 month who is the number 1 at MW.

    We need an undisputed.

He would fight him in Germany but I don't know where all parties involved would get the money together for this fight before neither fighter is featured in the other boxer's country...

Sturm really sounded like I have really insulted him and hurt his feelings/reputation/whatever...

Some time back Pavlik made it clear that he thinks Miranda got screwed, and he would NEVER fight in Germany unless HBO is there. It would really be a crying damn shame if we don't get the fights we need at 160. Pavlik, Abraham, Winky, Sturm, Mundine, and now Taylor is saying he might go back to 160 after the Lacy fight. There is the potential for 160 to really heat up. These guys need to fight and sort things out.

Sturm was a bit careless vs Castillejo but look back at the fight you will see Sturm was almost spent and was on wobbly legs even before he got tagged by Castillejo. Meaning that has was tired.

WhataRock -- Check the bold print. I don't think the original poster actually knows much about Pavlik's career. He used body shots very well in all the examples you named. Plus, in the second Taylor fight it was a body shot that sealed the win for KP. Earlier in his career the guys on ESPN raved about his "body work." Another point that some miss is that McKart is double ****ing tough, and KP had him on his hands and knees struggling to breathe with a single lead right. Kelly deserves his reputation as a head hunter, but it usually works for him. However, the fact remains that he is very capable of murderous body punching, and has proved that repeatedly.

Sturm is a good fighter but this is going a bit over the top. Funnily enough, he has more chance against Abraham than Pavlik.

There are many quirks to look out for in this division with styles. One guy can beat another, but another can beat him. The styles matchups are quite clear on paper.

We could be some way from finding an undisputed champ.

I can easily see a scenario where it takes more than one round of fights to establish a dominant champion. However, I do not think there is time for more than one round of fights. Pavlik already lives on cabbage soup the last few days before weigh-in, and Arthur's problems with making weight are well documented. Father time is going to kick the **** out of Winky before long even if KP and AA don't.

Mundine is not as good as Sturm, Pavlik, AA. King Arthur would knock him out, Pav would wear him down and Sturm would win by UD. I don't know Wright good enough.

Regarding your argument that AA does the ropeadope which looks to be tailor made for Pavlik: On the one hand I've to agree, because Pav is a relentless puncher. On the other hand AA likes to fight offensive boxing opponents. Personally I don't think that Pav can trade punches with AA. If it comes to that AA will decide the fight by KO. Pav better uses his reach advantage and his punching frequency to win the fight by UD. If he tries to battle AA (and I think he will) I can't imagine him winning the fight.

I'm assuming that Pavlik is smart enough not to get careless when AA is on the ropes. If KP uses his HUGE arm length advantage smartly, Arthur can't close the gap quickly enough. It is very hard to counter a guy you can't reach. If Pavlik got careless, and AA got inside, all hell could break lose. I'm convinced of two things: 1) Crap about Pav's chin is highly exagerated; 2) Abraham is capable of knocking out anybody who currently resides at 160.

Those lunging shots where AA puts everything from his toes up into it won't catch Pavlik, but a right hand like the one he hit Miranda with is another story. Abe got a little sloppy on the follow up, but the initial right was PERFECT. A right like that one hurts anybody at 160, and stops most.

Hehe, you obviously haven't seen much of Sturm haven't you?! The guy is faster than a rabbit when necessary, you just need to go to the pre-ODH fights (and partly with Massoe and Castillejo). I'm not quite sure what tactic Sturm would use against AA, but I'm sure he's got the tools to box his ears off.

Mate, I don't want to sound rude, but that was a dumbass question! You are asking a guy like Sturm, who boxed DLH four freaking years ago when nobody knew about KP, been three time champ, and just earned 1.5 mill EUR in his last fight, whether he would fight on an HBO undercard lead by Pavlik for peanuts????!! What a hell did you think? He just got as much if not more money than KP against BHop and he's been way longer on the scene than Pavlik... Sturm doesn't need to cross the pond... he earns handsomly in Germany... the only think that could force him to do it is his pride. But there's another pride - he ain't gonna be satisfied with peanuts and will ask for at leat parity with every big name. I just don't see it happening...
