Sturm v Macklin - Who won?

just watched it sturm by two.

sky couldn't even find a decent macklin shot to show in the highlights.

macklin had the work rate but sturm was happy to soak it up and it wasn't enough.

 

It sucks to be a boxing fan in times like this...

 

Macklin won the fight.If you just happened to come across that fight not knowing who the fighters were,and not knowing about the difficulty of getting a decision in Germany.Then you could only conclude that Macklin won that fight.

 

Wow shock,horror,boxing fans are outraged by a decision and call it robbery.It hasn't been happening since the beginning of time has it? It's obviously only the Brits who react like that.

well said! i don't like this little ****, bodhi. he slates british fighters and the people all the time. how he can say the brits are overrated, is beyond me. the germans way of conducting them- self's is DISGUSTING!!

they are cheats... always have been, always will be. macklin was robbed big time.

 

Just watched it and I love the way Macklin fought. Yeah he got brawl happy at times but for the most part he was picking his shots and fought well against a high-guard kind of fighter. This fight and Mosley-Wright 2 are good fights to study when making blueprints on how to beat high-guard fighters. Macklin won and like Lucas, he just did more. Sturm was active enough to keep it close but not effective enough with his work and Macklin's bodywork around the elbows(especially the right hook around the left elbow) was beautiful. Macklin got robbed. It was close but pretty easy to score as Macklin landed more effective shots and Sturm wasn't active or effective enough. Sturm did take the last two rounds clearly but Macklin did more in the whole fight with good body work and smart punch placement. This "hometown/comfort town gift decision" is getting out of hand.

 

Honestly the fight should be called a draw, and a immidate rematch, but i do think Sturm is gonna win it next time. But no i, i wouldn't go as far as say it was a robbery. But defiently not 112-116 for Sturm. It could got either way, but lets get a rematch
