Get out of her with that Jack Johnson **** bro. 1) Old as **** 2) 155lbs 3) Teenager 4) Pre-prime 5) A middleweight.
Harry Greb: 1. Mickey Walker 2. Gene Tunney 3. Tommy Loughran 4. Kid Norfolk 5. Jeff Smith but there are many to chose from
Fritzie Zivic: Henry Armstrong Charley Burley Jake LaMotta Sammy Angott Eddie Booker With an additional round going his way, he could hold a win over Billy Conn as well.
Young Corbett III (yeah I´m high on him right now): 1. Mickey Walker 2. Billy Conn 3. Ceferino Garcia 4. Fred Apostoli 5. Guys Lesnevich
I've got Young Corbett III beating Jackie Fields for the WW title. Have you Young Corbett III beating Jackie Fields for the WW title?
I'm a Sugar Ray fan, but some of his best wins were controversial. Duran 2: SLR did't beat Duran, Duran quit. Duran's own win over SLR is more convincing. Hearns 1: If the fight had been over 12 rounds Tommy would have won. Hagler: Close fight; many still say Hagler won. Hearns 2: Even SLR admits Tommy won this one inspite of the official draw. However you rate the wins it's fair to say that SLR was in some of the greatest and most entertaining fights of his era, if not all time.
Yes, but we don't have 15 rounders anymore, they were phased out within SLR's and Hearn's own careers apparently on health grounds. Hearns was ahead on all cards after the 12th. By the 14th he was knackered.
The fighters fought and strategised for 15 rounds. If it had been 12 rounds the pace and flow would have changed accordingly. imo you can't look at completed 15 rounders and judge an imaginary winner in a 12 rounder by cutting off whatever happened in the last 3 rounds.
That is why i said he fails on the prime and weight questionsatsch You have to admit though those 5 names take some beating.
Hmm. You're right of course and SRL got the win. However I'm not sure how far either fighter stuck to their fight plans in this one. It was heck of a fight and fatigue certainly played a part in Tommy getting decked.
