Until Floyd loses how do you know how good he is? You can say he's never faced opposition of the same class as SRL beat but until someone beats Floyd you don't know what his limits are.

 

Floyd hasn't shown he's as adept as Benitez, Duran or Hearns. He hasn't beaten the calibre of fighters those guys had beaten when Ray faced/defeated them. His skillset doesn't appear as formidable as those either, judging on an opponent-by-opponent basis.

Proof? No.

Damning evidence? IMO, yes.

Judging by his ring record, Floyd would be nowhere nea the top 50 fighters of all time. How anyone can conceivably see him competing with Ray Leonard to the point where he had a shout at the decision is mental, even if Floyd is as great as his record doesn't suggest, Leonard is a shocking stylistic match for him, unless of course you're one of these deluded peeps for think Floyds shoulder roll is something new

Just watched Benitez-Leonard and my opinion is stronger than ever.

 

Benitez was more impenetrable and more varied offensively IMO.

RichT's 'until he is beaten' statement has really irked me: it suggests to me that he believes that until a fghter is beaten then he is unbeatable.

As Mayweather says there is no blue-print to beat Mayweather because no-one has done it yet.

Oher than a couple of times (De-La Hoya and Castillo I where he was injured) no-one has come close to beating him.

Them two comments where you said Mayweather is the most over-rated fighter of the last 50 years and he wouldnt get in the top 50 fighters of all time are just laughable. :rofl:rofl

The reason I don't agree is because there are more over-rated fighters than FMJ (Pacquiao for one) and I don't care what anyone says there are not 50 better fighters than FMJ in Boxing history.

Lenoard was a more hurtful puncher than Floyd.

Lenoard was flashy than Floyd.

Lenoard was a more humble man than Floyd.

But when you consider all the good / great fighters who have come and gone then Floyd just dosent feel that special.

He is the man at the moment - but if had been around during Hearns and Lenoard and Duran days - these guys would have challenged him to a much tougher degree than Diego Corralles, Castillio, and a faded De La Hoya.

This is what i think too.

De La Hoya gave him problems before fading as he often does. Leonard would have had gas to spare over the shorter distance. I am a huge fan of Floyd , but at 147 he has no advantages over Leonard. Leonards jab would have opened him up, and i think he probably stops him
