Well, we know that today's athletic training is better. We also know that modern fighters can drain themselves down and rehydrate better, which leaves them (as someone humorously pointed out) bigger fighters...

Mosely and Robinson both represent the cream of their respective eras. Yes, Robinson accomplished more, but we're not talking about a dominant champion versus some random contender here. We're talking about two very elite athletes. One of them -- Mosely -- comes from an era with steroids, better nutrition, bigger fighters, and better sports science.

Yet a bunch of people are still picking Robinson. I assume that they have a reason. Which of the following is closest to the mark?

    OPTIONS:

    (1) Robinson's era had more talent despite its inferior sports science knowledge. More people boxed back then, which created a larger talent pool. Mosely is better-trained, but he's a big fish in a small pond.

    (2) Robinson was an aberration even in his own time period. Mosely is a once-in-a-couple-years sort of fighter, while Robinson represents a couple standard deviations from a century's worth of talent. This freakish ability more than compensated for Robinson's inferior training methods and aforementioned lack of steroids.

    (3) Although 1950's sports science was inferior, fighters were more dedicated to training back then. They trained year round and kept in shape, which compensated somewhat.

    (4) Fighters were better technicians in the 1950's. Sure, they didn't bench as much and probably couldn't run as fast, but they knew their craft. They sparred more, fought more, and had better coaches.

    So...which is it? :bbb

    Mosley.

Faster, better right hand, better defense, held his own against the best of his time.
    (DLH, Pac, Floyd, etc..)

    Y'all are just haters.

Modern training methods are ****. Fighting regularly is a much better idea. Fighters gas over 12 nowadays and throw less punches.

Shane might have been a touch faster, its debateable but not worth arguing over.

Robinson put Graziano down for a 10 count with ONE right hand, Mosely couldn`t floor the smaller Mayweather with TWO right hands.

Moseley`s defense was usually his attack, SRR had better D.

Mosely held his own vs Pac & Floyd ??? :huh I wouldn`t like to see him take a pasting if thats the case.... Robinson held his own thru 202 fights in a tougher era, lets not act stupid here.

Hey, give respect when you talking to a man. :fire
Mosley was shot to pieces when he fought Money and still managed to hurt him.

Money was trying his hardest to take him out and couldn't.
He was even worse when he faced pac, but still lasted 12.
Knocked his ***** ass down too. :yep

You probably want SRR's D. :barf

Tougher era? LaMotta is a worse version than Margocheato, and look what Mosley did to him. :deal:deal
