www.knockoutprom claims to have film of Pep vs Robinson(7 mins long) Pep and Robinson are My # 1 and # 2 fighters of all time. To get to watch footage of these two guys going at it as youngsters is like a dream come true.
They are not youngsters. The exhibition was filmed on 1965-12-13, when Pep is 43, and Robinson 44. They are both having fun at it, like in the 1st round Pep misses a wild left swing, and Robinson pretends to be badly hurt by it, with Pep laughing at this show. The 2nd round starts with Pep still in his corner, talking to one of his seconds, when Robinson attempts to "sneak" across the ring and catch Pep by surprise. The referee tries to get between them, but Pep jumps away from Robinson, turns to his corner and shrugs "What's Ray trying to do?", while Robinson is swinging his glove in front of the referee's face explaining something to him. This time it's Pep who's trying to "sneak" close to Robinson, but Ray turns toward him, and Pep backs away, again shrugging his shoulders. Or in the 3rd round where Robinson pretends to be drunk a couple of times.
I own it. Robinson takes it very easy on a smaller Pep. The boxing will disapoint you, but the class of the fighters will not.
