Sugar says Lewis is alltime great yet only top 12

Lewis;s 2 one punch losses where just that, it does not reflect the great offence Lennox had but its not something we can forget , Imagine if Lewis was never beaten by either man, we would not see his weakness and would have him rated much higher, Lewis had a great offence but did not have great recup powers. I still have him in my top 12 but higher than 12

 

Both would KO Marciano in 1 round, so it's a moot point.:good

in case you guys hadvnt noticed, Sonny Liston is my new favorite. so the marciano critism wont work anymore. good thing about this, their is not much you can critisize liston on h2h or in his prime without sounding like an idiot.

 

well my all time favorite fighters are still marciano, louis, pep and walcott.
but listons right up their now and as far as ability goes he has surpassed most and he now rates in my top 2-3 heavyweights of all time.



both marciano and liston are in my top 5. A good part of my criteria list is head to head, and yes I do think the rock matches up well h2h vs other greats, but I think maybe only muhammad ali and perhaps a absolute peak joe louis could beat sonny liston. louis vs liston is 50-50. I think a peak 1958 sonny liston is an absolute monster, and I posted in my mini article months back, he has the accomplishments to back it up.

lennox lewis was by far the best superheavyweight in history, far better than bowe. Lennox at his peak had it all, and on his best night would be a nightmare for most champs in history. His jab was a beauty, two fisted knockout power, very good punching technique(unlike vitali), great ring technician however he had a major flaw........a very vunerable chin. He did not recup well and he had a horrible habit of dropping his left low after jabbing

 

I'd take Liston over Rahman. Aside from chin, they are probably even in terms of ability, where Rahman simply has no chin.

McCall would make it the distance, will have to review if I pick him or not however.

 

I can criticise him plenty. He was plodding, had many defensive lapses, he leaned into his jab way too much etc. etc. etc.

Stylistically he's somewhat similiar to Rahman, ability wise about the same also, though, Rahman is chinless.

I'd take Lewis over Liston, very heavy favourite.
