You don't think Verno Phillips means anything? I really don't care what the public sees, people whp claim to be informed fans should know that Verno Phillips ain't no slow leak. Verno Phillips is extremely better than any version of Quintana. Plus, Paul has undoubtedly improved all aspects of his game since then...
Verno Phillips is nothing. He was like 8 inches shorter and 39 yrs old. On top of that, he's never been better than average. Verno has never been that special, and if it wasn't for his 20 yr stint of never being stopped, he wouldn't even be notable.
Verno Phillips at 39 was nothing, even prior to that whats Phillips biggest claim to the sport? fighting a close fight with Ouma? I mean yes Phillips is a good contender a good journeyman but thats about it.
My point exactly. Phillips basically was a test to see how soon PW could get him out of there. Phillips had no offense, all he did was land some good over right counters. Phillips didnt have a chance, he lost every round.
I can't see Winky beating Williams, I just can't. The thing with Nazim is when a boxer has a flaw, he knows how to train his boxer how to capitalize on it, and williams has a lot of flaws, also he is good at knowing what a fighter's strengths are and neutralizing or make it work in his boxers favor.
**** PAUL WILLIAMS...he's an overrated TREE! :yep Shane will chop his ass down to College-Ruled Paper :good
The Mosley of the Margarito fight with Nazim in his corner beats Williams. Edit: There will be a lot of collisions are both come forward and Mosley takes away Williams' reach as he gets inside and wrestles/works inside. As Williams pushes punches, looking for activity, Mosley will be able to counter with ruthless right hands down the pipe and looping them when a hook is appropriate.
Haha I juss watched that fight with Ouma the other nite...I scored it 115-112 for Ouma..good point though!
Just thinking about both fighters styles, I can see that Williams could very well get tagged on the way in. If verno can land on him whilst he was coming in to throw to the body then I dont see why a faster, more accurate harder punching Mosley couldn't. Williams gets very wreckless at times but he has not yet been in with a fighter of late who has been able to capitalise on his moments of wrecklessness. Not sure what type of mindset or shape that Winky is in but it would be very stupid just to predict that Williams would win against him. I can see Winky schooling him in my opinion but it all depends on how Winky has been looking after himself away from the ring... With regards to Mosley vs Williams, I could see Mosley winning but it would have to be by stoppage otherwise I think he would lose if it went to the scorecards. Knocking out Quintana and then Andy Kolle and then stopping Verno Philips is not exactly a measure of what he could do against Mosley. Mosley possesses much more speed than all 3 fighters and he hits the target which is my point, if Williams comes in with his wildly forward style he will get tagged sooner or later, even more so if he is fighting the same Mosley that we saw against Margarito, not Mayorga... Margarito couldn't live with the speed but he was not really jabbing, he was more concerned about swinging and reaching in and he was making amateuristic mistakes, leading with power punches and leaving himself wide open. He was very readable and Mosley had the right arsenal to dismantle him. Williams has good workrate, body punching and movement. Mosley has good speed, accuracy and a good beard. Both have good attributes but I think Mosley would win if he remains strong and goes to Williams body early.
If Mosley comes in in shape like with Margo, then he takes Williams to school. Probably by KO. No way Williams beats him.
