Now that the dust is slowly starting to settle.... lets talk 'flava of the month'........ scorecards! First off, that was a masterful performance from Andre Ward and made for an easy nights work, I always knew the skillset was too far apart between the two fighters, I was fully aware during the build up, the media had to sell the fight. However, I was extremely shocked with scoring 115-113.... not one but two of the judges scored it this way and ironically it was the American and Canadian judge, I seriously felt this was not reflective of the fight. I've also read on 'Fat Dans' blog that Judge - John Stewart, had a score of 49-46 in Frochs favor after 5 rounds!? In a skysports interview post fight, Froch is on record saying, quote "it was a very close fight, I lost the fight, but it was alot closer than you think, to lose the fight by 2 rounds etc..." [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwPd95wQTgA[/ame] I scored a shut out of 120 - 108 Ward - I was desperately trying to be fair and I felt I scored it fair. I almost gave a round to Froch out of pure sympathy, but that doesnt merit a round. I know people may argue what does it matter if the right man won.... and I get that, but the scoring should reflect what actually took place. Alot of people are also praising Froch for losing with dignity..... based on last night, how else could he have taken the loss? He was beat so soundly that the fight wasnt remotely close, so praising the man for this is ludicrous. I like Froch, but lets not give credit where it really isnt due. If you want to assess how a man takes a defeat, look for reaction when the fight is close, i.e. Kessler V Froch. So a couple of questions fight fans.. So were the first 5 rounds really that close that they could easily be scored 4-1 in Frochs Favor? Should the scoring be overlooked considering the right man won? Should Froch be praised because he didnt question the decision? Is Froch right in thinking it was closer than we saw it? No hate, honest thoughts please.
