    You have it mixed up. Here's the welterweight lineage.

    Margarito had the WBO belt.
    Spinks unified his IBF with Mayorga's WBC and WBA belts. Spinks won all 3 belts and the Ring belt.
    Spinks lost all 4 belts to Judah in their second fight.
    Judah lost to Baldomir. Here's where it gets tricky.
    Because Baldomir only paid for the sanctioning fees for the WBC, the WBA and IBF refused to recognize him as champion.
    Only the WBC and Ring declared Baldomir champion.
    The WBA was declared vacant, and the IBF returned the belt to Judah, as if his fight with Baldomir never happened.
    Floyd beat Judah to claim the IBF belt.
    Floyd vacated the IBF belt.
    Floyd then beat Baldomir for the Ring and WBC belts.
    Cotto later won the vacant WBA title by beating Quintana.
    Margarito lost the WBO belt to Williams.
    Cintron won the vacated IBF belt.

    As it stands now...
    True Lineal Champ = Mayweather
    Ring = Mayweather
    WBC = Mayweather
    WBA = Cotto
    IBF = Cintron
    WBO = Williams

    I hope that answered your question.

    I agree that KT was the real champ at the time, but I'm just starting this thread to show how difficult it is to unify all of these belts today. It's a new era in boxing. Whether it's better or worse, I don't know the truth. But my gut feeling is that it's worse.

    ...unless there's enough money for all the sanctioning bodies to be made.

    WBO needs to get on their knees and thank the promoters for legitimizing their belt, especially Frank Warren. Because if this were 10 years ago, and Calzaghe were at the end of his reign defending only the WBO 38 times, the boxing public would treat him like Damiani in 1989, which is just another minor belt holder during the time of the real champ.

    Luckily for him he beat Lacy for the IBF, unified with Kessler, picked up the WBC and WBA, and silenced the critics for the most part.

    to the original question

    Winky Wright held all of the belts at junior middleweight. He had the WBO first then held the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles after he beat mosley

    Riddick Bowe also. He won the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles after the 1st Holyfield fight, then won the WBO later from Herbie Hide

    When fighters fight for the WBA, WBC and IBF titles it is for the "undisputed title". Lewis-Holyfield, Mormeck-Bell, Zoo-Judah, Hopkins-Trinidad, Mosley-Wright etc

    I understand that Mike, but I'm talking about this new 4th belt, since all of a sudden all the major media outlets recognize the WBO as on par with the other 3.

    Yeah, but the reason why I don't count either of them is that they lost those belts in the ring before unifying all of them.

    Wright lost the WBO to Harry Simon and also his first attempt at the IBF vs. Vargas.
    Bowe lost his belts to Holyfield before beating Hide.

    The WBO don't count as far as I'm concerned. It's a Frank Warren title.
