Taking everything into account, which fighter do your rate higher, Eubank or Benn?

A very tough question I know.

 

Benn has the best win (McClelland) but Eubank edges it on the H2Hs.

 

McClellan did look pretty awesome in the Jackson fights but apart from that, there wasn't much depth.

Rocchigiani was a better win, because he did Hamsho in a round and went on to clearly better Maske and Michalczewski, being robbed blind in his first fights with both.. also beat Nunn (who Jones Jr officially ducked). Plus I thought Eubank won it hansomely. And obviously it was in Germany!

Eubank beat Benn cleanly when both were in their prime, no controversy, no complaints - that should pretty much end the thread right there really.

Eubank also beat Watson twice, fair and square, who did Benn. Eubank out-jabbed Malinga all night, who in turn out-jabbed Benn all night.

Obviously Eubank was the better boxer, but, also, the tougher man - standing up to Watson, Collins and Logan much better than Nigel did, and finishing his career on his shield not his stool.

That said, Benn was extremely exciting and had more natural punching ability.

(I thought Eubank beat Collins clearly in their first fight.)

 

Possibly, but Benn has arguably clearly the better resume.

 

No, not at all, most pundits had Benn winning the second fight that ended in a draw.

The score cards were also split in the first fight.

 

Come on, he beat Benn. Even Benn admitted he was beaten by the better man. He was beaten cleanly.

 

No, in the second fight that ended in a draw, the general consensus was that Benn took it. The general view was that if anyone had done enough to win that fight, it was Benn.

 

Head to head is only just one part of the equation anyway. Benn's resume really does show up Eubank's.

I wouldn't say that. Guys like Doug DeWitt, Robbie Sims and Sanderline Williams were experienced Yanks, but Ronnie Essett got the better of them. Thornton and Lindell Holmes were better technicians than DeWitt and Barkley, ask James Toney (Holmes and Toney main spar partners)..

As I said, the Rocchigiani win is superior to McClellan. Then you have the two Watson wins, the ease at which he beat Malinga (who literally bashed Benn's face up both times) without a scratch on his face, etc. Ray Close already beat Nardiello.

Eubank all the way, as a previous poster said he beat Benn when they were both in their primes.

Eubank also went the distance with Collins twice and managed to get a spilt decision on one occassion whereas Benn was stopped twice. Benn's defeat to Watson was more convincing than Eubank's (i.e. the first fight that he won but really lost).
