Bute vs Andrade just doesn't do it for me.

I see Bute winnig a wide decision over Andrade.

Tarver vs Dawson is a good looking fight.

    Much more evenly matched.

Better match up and bigger names make it a bigger and better fight.

It's so funny. Six months ago Tarver was a washed up bum and now suddenly he is one of the two best fighter in the division after beating.... Clinton Woods.

You guys forgot that he was schooled by Hopkins for 12 rounds or what? The same old Hopkins that lost to Calzaghe.

Let's not forget Chad Dawson who barely got by Johnson.

But somehow this is a great fight between the two top 175lbs fighters....

    yeah... I'll pass.

Well, Woods was a legit beltholder, and Tarver beat him handily. Dawson did struggle with Johnson but got the win, and he holds victories over Adamek and Harding as well.

Erdei is a non-factor and Calzaghe isn't interested in anything serious at 175, so right now you have Tarver, Dawson and Johnson at the top. Diaconu could join them, but he needs a meaningful victory.

What do you see on the resumes of Bute and Andrade that should have us so excited?

Why are you bringing up Bute and Andrade in a discussion about the light heavyweight division? ;)

    Ha. Avatars, my friend!!

Truth is, I'm excited about both fights. I like Bute quite and bit and think he'll get a very good test in this bout. He has been very well-managed to this point in his career, IMO. If he's the goods, 2009 should be a big year for him.

You fall more into the category of the casual fan in my book. More of a fan of particular fighters than boxing itself.

True boxing fans never miss an opportunity to see a fight this good.
