For starters Calzaghe was blown up above his prime weight, and couldn't put down a five year old girl with his punching power at the time. Everyone knows they were two great wins for Calzaghe, and a great way to end his career, he was 36 in case you don't remember and was way past his prime. If you're seriously deriding the accomplishment then the only delusional one here is you :deal
roy gets penalized because no one really had seen him in a close fight up until that point. tarver had a tough style for roy but it was obvious that coming back down from heavyweight was roy's biggest problem that night. it was a gutsy effort from jones that gets overlooked because he was so dominant for so long. if tarver would have moved his hands more in the first fight he would have won going away. you saw the same thing from him last night. stay in his shell too long and then ***** about the decision.
all the way over his prime weight for sure. all the way up from 168 to 175. jones and hopkins were also former middleweight champs so it's not like he was fighting bigger men. after looking like crap vs hopkins, joe runs to jones for his last fight. it had been four and a half years since tarver ko'ed jones when they fought but we're all supposed to act like that win was a legendary victory?? if you want to see what a real fighter looks like, who takes on all comers at their best, look at carl froch. there's a real champ who gets real respect.
I agree Froch is a great fighter and deserves all the respect he gets. I rate the cobra I really do, but that's irrelavant anyway. You seem to have lost the point, Calzaghe's wins were great scoring decision wins in both Hopkins and Jones' backyards. However, everyone knows that Hopkins and RJJ were both prime LHW's and that's why Hopkins still fights there today and Jones hovers around there. It's irrefutable that Calzaghe is a great fighter and the fact that you had to bring my avatar up in the first place shows what a weak position you were arguing from initially about how great RJJ was. You employed a straw man argument and kudos to you it worked :good
Why all the hate for Tarver? WTF is wrong with boxing fans. The guy has had an excellent career, never ducked anyone. Not everyone can be an ATG, but he has done himself proud - the guy is a class boxer and an excellent commentator. The brashness is just an act - it helped him get publicity over his career and increase his profile.
Your the idiot that doesn't no shyt about boxing. Kayode was younger but raw and never fought past 10 rounds. Tarver did very little in the fight except the middle rounds. Also, Floyd is undefeated and P4P the best. Also, he dominated the best in several divisions as well as P4P opponents. Drink some more haterade.
43 years old you stupid ****. floyds undefeated because most everyone he fights is closer to 40 than 30 you moron. and take that ugly ass pig from your avatar, you make this board sick having to look at her
Your dumber than a box of rocks, seriously. Oh yeah Ortiz 24 and Cotto 30 were old fighters, get the fukk. Everybody knows you are hater of great proportions. Hell Tony Thompson is in his 40's and about challege for the HW title. Most fighters now who are in their 40's are close to it dominates raw fighters. In this case Tarver should have lost.
Bull**** Tarver couldn't pull the trigger in the early rounds. Everytime Kayode attacked Tarver was backing up against the ropes without responding back. Tarver was old and shot. And Kayode let him off the hook. He deserved the draw.
how do you rate antonio tarver, glen johnson and jermain taylor? they had more impressive wins vs bhop and jones than joe did. tarver and johnson beat jones 4 yrs before joe did and taylor beat hopkins twice three years before joe did. all three of those fighters must be atgs as well. calzaghe was an excellent fighter but let's put those wins into some kind of perspective. the brits get overly excited about decent wins. see froch over bute.
I think that Glen Johnson is a good fighter with a great chin. I admire both his willingness to travel and his fear of no man. Jermain Taylor was a good fighter shame about his chin Antonio Tarver is quite good, he truly exposed RJJ and is generally alright. I assume you still cry at night over Tarver-Jones II. Let's not kid ourselves JC is a cut above all three and it's just his wins over Hopkins but he had other great wins like Lacy, Kessler and Eubank
i've never seen a truer draw than saturday night's fight. I think tarver's making a mistake by not rematching kayode and throwing bombs earlier.
Champagne posting moneypaysbills kmac is a delirious Roy Jones nuthugger, who's been outed and exposed before, and you've just humiliated him again :deal It's great to have posters of your ilk on these boards, who like to engage in intelligent and objective discussion.
