Well, what can I say man. I disagree. Pavlik looked clumsy, lacking in skills, flat-footed, uncomfortable... everything a supposedly great boxer shouldn't be. Taylor looked quick, landed cleaner shots, showed good defence, and in my opinion, outboxed Pavlik. Disagree all you want. That's how I see it.

I really need to watch this fight again. I thought Taylor looked like a punching bag, and Pavlik totally outclassed him.

I guess we have different ideas of what boxing actually is. I see Pavlik as slightly one-dimensional. Decent stamina, and good power, but skills? Not great in my opinion. Tip to Pavlik: Stay away from Joe Calzaghe.

Hey man, the judges agreed with me. So you and your boyfriend JT can go cry in your beers over a candle light dinner. :deal

And JT is the second coming of Ali??:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Pavlik is not pefect by any means, but he is a damn sight better than JT. That was made clear when he violently KO'ed JT last year. Last night unanimous decision completes that confirmation.

Obviosuly he isn't the second coming of Ali. There's no need to suggest I made such a claim. However, Jermain Taylor is a far better boxer than many people give him credit for. That's all.

this fight was waaaaay closer than 2 of the judges had it...in my mind it could be 115-113 going either way or even a draw but 117-111 is unbelievable. It should have been closer, not saying that I couldnt see Pavlik winning the fight, just not winning by the margin one of those judges had it. I mean lets be honest JT was landing way cleaner shots and way more impressive combo's..Pavlik basically stuck with the 1-2 and would work an uppercut or hook in every now and again. His offense seemed to be less effective than JTs as the fight carried on. But I will admit JT faded hard in the championship rounds..maybe thats what made the judges go crazy with their scoring

I respectfully disagree. I think he is an average fighter at best.

Also I felt he wasn't punching with his usual authority. Taylor isn't exactly the fleetest guy on his feet in boxing to day, yet he was effective at not being a stationairy target against the rather ponderous Pavlik. I know their are many punchers who loose effectiveness if their opponents dont let them get set, but KP may as well fight statues in the future or he'll get badly outboxed. Luckily for him the only genuine threat at 160lbs is Abraham wwho's pretty flat footed. Pavlik would outwork him imo.

I agree with this. Everyone seemed to overlook how well Jermain fought for the previous 10 rounds. Pavlik won the last 2, I'll give him that.

Thanks for being reasonable and not throwing personal insults around. I've already been attacked countless times on here for stating my opinions on the fight, it gets a little bit tiring.

I have to say that it was a competitive fight, but i had Pavlik comfortably ahead 116-112. JT impressed me a lot though with his fast hands, defence and conditioning, to me it seemed sometimes that Pavlik was the one that was going to run out of gas due to Jt's body punching, but KP changed that with a perfect right hook to the body, and through out the fight to me he was landind the better punches, not the prettiest, but the more effective and, well, just a lot more also.

I have to disagree with the one-dimensional part. He has above average stamina, and if you think he only has good power you must be drunk for life. He has exceptioal power that usually put his opponents to sleep. He is maybe not great at this point, but he is only 25.
