Those who underestimate Kelly mostly just don't get his style. I may be the only one who sees it, but Kelly reminds me a lot of a giant Danny Lopez. That's why I made the above analogy. The work rate, the leaky defense, the confidence, the physical and mental toughness, and the fact that his best defense is an amazing offense. Like in round 2 with Taylor: Pavlik did not try to run, or cover up. By the end of the round he was back on the offense, and had Taylor initiating clinches. In the first fight I could understand people picking Taylor because so many had only seen the Miranda fight. In the rematch people picking Taylor just don't seem to have a clue how boxing works. In 29 of Kelly's 32 fights he made score cards and tough rounds irrelevant when he closed the show with a (usually brutal) knock out. When your opponent walks you down and knocks you the **** out it does matter how good your fight plan was or how far ahead you were on the cards, or how many knock downs you scored. It's over, and YOU LOSE!!!:yep Boo
Yes, you are putting your neck on the block. In the past Taylor has shot his wad in the first few rounds then shown clear signs of fatigue as the fight progressed. Now you are expecting him to change his style for one fight. Possible, but unlikely.
Same feelings I have, Pavlik needs to be careful this time and not think because he knocked JT out once that he will do it again (not saying he can't or wont) because that'll be a big mistake. Also alot of people forget that 2nd round, which Pavlik did come back to win the fight but I'm willing to bet a GOOD majority of refs would have stopped that fight and after wathing it a couple of times I might have as well.
I called it on the money last time (TKO7), and I'm confident that Pavlik will stop Taylor again this time.
The rematch is good for both Pavlik and Taylor, hopefully it will settle the questions from the first fight.
Pavlik will stop Taylor again, his pressure and strength will wear JT down again and it will be de ja vu all over again! what can JT do differently this time to produce a different outcome???:huh NOT A DAMN THING:hat
I have to say I really don't care who wins this fight. Good on Taylor for trying to get his titles back straight away after getting KTFO. If it happens again, so what. He did what a champ should do, tried to get his titles back. That takes balls. If more fighters had that attitude, boxing would be better off. To be perfectly honest, the best result for me in this fight would be 12th round KO by Taylor, after multiple KD's of both guys, setting up a rubber match between the pair of them.
The confusing part about him jumping right back in the fire is that the fight in indeed NOT for his titles to regain. The fight is scheduled at a catch of 166, so the only reason he has is a PPV payday and possible redemption. Go Pavlik!! Got it right the first time TKO 7, Miranda was out in seven, and this will be the hat trick for TKO 7. Just like on a slot machine it's Pavlik's time to hit the jackpot and get his come-up-ins.
Is that right? I didn't realise that. Well, I still think it's good of him to try and redeem himself. I could be wrong, and it could just be one last payday before retirement, and he wants to cash out. If that's the case, ignore everything I've just said!!!!
