taylor would knock him out. taylor is too fast of the foot and if he sets up his right hand, kessler would be **** all.
I don't even think Kessler has been hurt badly once in his career. Sure JT would be a very big challenge, but if Taylor was going for a knockout, he would put himself at serious risk as Kessler is the bigger guy and bigger puncher. Kessler has all the physical tools to be a great fighter but i think mentally he might be lacking a bit when it gets tough. A Taylor fight would be a great fight but i've seen nothing that indicates Kessler would be on the arse-end of a stoppage, a points loss, definitely possible, but i don't think a KO is.
Nice observation. In the second fight, Taylor got away from that Kronk thing of keeping your left hand low that most of Manny's fighters do. That low left hand got him KO'd in the first fight with Pavlik.
Well, we really do have to wait and see what Taylor has been doing while off. He could have gone fishing like he said, or he could have been rededicating himself. Putting on the extra muscle for 168? Time will tell.
I feel this way. The improvments were tremendous but i think Jermain can beat kelly. I thought he got him the second time but i was not to upset by the outcome.
Yeah to be honest i am a bit annoyed that he has taken so long off especially only to fight Jeff Lacy when he comes out. After the hassle Lacy was pulling i was hoping JT would tell him to jam it, as it is going to be nearly a year between fights and at his age thats a bit frustrating. Hopefully he wipes the floor with Lacy and then starts getting down to business in the SMW division.
i have no idea about how taylor performs at 168 but h2h i'll give the taylor before his loss a decent shot against kessler
This fight should happen. Maybe after they both take care of business against guys they should beat, it will.
Kessler will put plenty of pressure on Taylor. And probably the other way around... which is why it is such an interesting fight.
What makes you think that someone that has just lost twice in a row at 160 and has only managed 1 clear win in his last 5 outtings can suddenly step up and beat the best of the 2 divisions above? I can only assume that insane reasoning is down to some anti Euro bias on your behalf. Realistically he stands a small chance vs Kessler and less vs Calzaghe.
I fail to see how Taylor could beat any version of Joe Calzaghe, even this somewhat faded version. As for a win over Kessler? It's possible. He could do what he did against Pavlik in fight two and try to get himself a decision. If he ups his activity level a bit he could realistically have a good shot.
There would have to be mental question marks against Taylor if this fight were to happen right now. Afterall, he could have been fighting Froch next for the WBC title, but chose to sidestep that opportunity to fight Lacy instead as he felt he needed a win. If he doesn't have confidence in himself to beat Froch, how would he feel about the vastly more proven and superior Kessler? Seems like a lot of posters here have more faith in Jermaine Taylor's ability than he does himself right now.
