Taylor was always massively overrated

The amount of fights part isn't really a big deal to me

It just shows that Spence turned pro earlier

Spence and Taylor are around the same age

I very much enjoyed the salty tears of those British nuthuggers when Spence invaded the UK and spanked Brook. I don't consider Spence overrated, to be honest. He ran into an absolute buzz saw that night against Bud. No shame in that.

I think Mikey achieved more, but that has no bearing on whether he was overrated. Very good fighter, but not a generational talent.

That in itself is an interesting thing to consider - how much did the pasting from GGG and drop back to 147 take out of Brook? i.e. a good win for Spence, but maybe not as good as Brook was when he fought Porter?

All goes to show that pretty much everything on a resume has context...

I've heard a few people hype up Crawford's win over Burns but realistically let's be honest Burns was an overachiever I never considered him a top guy.

Burns/Bertran was indeed a total gift decision no one thought Burns won that fight and he got his jaw broken in the process.

Garcia is a couple levels above Taylor. Just watching them you can see the difference in technique and execution. If you know what you’re looking at, that is. If you don’t, then any narrative will do.

Taylor was a very good fighter at his best, but the WBSS tournaments produced a fair bit of unwarranted hype. We saw what happened when Josh Taylor and Callum Smith stepped up to elite opposition afterward. That goes for others, too, like Prograis.

Still, you have to give the man credit for what he did accomplish, which wasn't easy. He's not a Lynch or Buchanan, but he's still a credit to Scotland.

It is important. Crawford being 28-0, with six world title fights under his belt, having fought many numerous world class opponents, and having gone the full 12 round distance x 2 and 10 rounds a bunch of times stood him in much better stead to beat Postol than only being 12-0, having 0 world title fights, not having fought any prime world class opponents before, and not having been past 9 rounds before did Taylor

Becoming undisputed in 18 fights >>>>> winning your first world title in 23 fights and becoming undisputed in 32

Good guy, good fighter, but as with fellow multiple-weight champs like Broner, Mikey, Twink (who FTR ducked Taylor) there's a lot of smoke and mirrors there. He would've been 0-4 in B2B fights from Gonzalez, Beltran, Crawford, and Zlaticanin if not for corruption and good fortune

Sandor Martin embarrassed Mikey and took him to slick school in Mikey's own backyard but one of the 3 home judges predictably robbed Sandor

Speaking of robberies let's not forget that one of Mikey's best wins Broner should have about twice the amount of losses on his CV than he did if not for Premier Boxing Criminals and neither he nor Mikey ever fought outside North America.

Loma would've run rings around Mikey, Mikey never seen anything like Loma before. Loma's speed, slickness, defence and creative offence would've caused him absolute nightmares. I definitely see Mikey pulling a no mas. Hell, he pulled one against Salido after the tide started to turn under the pretext of having a broken nose. Whoever heard of a Mexican warrior pulling a no mas because of a sore nose

Bigger too, Porter was a proven welter despite losing to a big welter in Spence.

    "Premier Boxing Criminals" :risas3::risas3:

I've also thought Loma would have beaten Mikey, at least at 130lbs (where Loma was absolutely the complete package--fast, hard-hitting, and highly skilled).

Nobody brings it quite like you, my man.

    Thanks, hoop

Loma would've embarrassed him. Mikey wouldn't win a round but if he was lucky he might lose 12 of them

Josh Taylor truned pro late. Youre basiclally giving him more credit for being an amateur for longer.

I agree with you that Lomachenko wouldve won but people said this same kind of over the top talk about Lomachenko vs Lopez before they fought
