It's weird how Lomachenko fans won't acknowledge that Lopez is a threat. Same as how they insist Lomachenko would school and retire Pacquiao even though Lomachenko blatantly ducked him.

Loma fighting Lopez now would be taking the easy way out. It also does less for his legacy. Lopez is going to hold a title eventually, unlike marriaga or koasicha. It makes sense to make Lopez grab a title first. It also prepares Lopez for the fight better as well. If Lopez was smart he would take Lomas advice. A Lopez with a belt and a win over Commey would look much better on Lomas resume than a green Lopez.

    Bingo.

And the people claiming Loma is avoiding Lopez right now know that, too. They'd rather see the fight happen now so if Loma toys with him, they'll have the "green card" to play to discredit the win.

The genuine boxing fans out there want to see Lopez get a title or, at the very least, a top 10-top 5 win first to validate the fight. Commey would be the perfect litmus test to see where he's at.

Teofimo Lopez now is a better win than Crolla and Campbell. Combined.

To be honest, I don't recognize him as a threat at all.

His skill and technique is not really better than Linares and I doubt his strength would trouble Loma at all. IMHO, the only boxer left in 135 lbs, if he is still able to make it here, who can give a good fight and a real threat to Loma is Mikey Garcia. He is the only boxer with high experience who possess 'unique style' that makes him different than other top level boxer. I still rate Garcia as a top fighter eventhough he lost to Spence.

But seriously, I don't mind at all that Loma to fight Lopez. But as a titleholder or mandatory title challenger, because other names like Garcia and Tank Davis are all currently holding a title.

Lopez is a threat because he brings that rare combination of speed, explosiveness, power, and meanness. Also because 135 is a barren landscape. The fact is Lopez now is a bigger fight than Crolla and Campbell despite how green he is.

Okay then. I believe you.

The question is, can Lopez get himself a title or mandatory challenger spot within a year ? I mean if he is serious about chasing Loma, he should stick and focusing his career in 135.

I know he is aiming to fight Commey for his IBF belt which, in my opinion, the shortest route to reach Loma. But problem is, would Commey fight him next, or fight in a in a unification battle against Loma next ? If I were Commey, I'd definitely choose Loma next since it has bigger prize, money and prestige. On the other hand, Lopez is potentially high risk, but low return. Other way, Lopez can try to get WBC title shot against Campbell (assuming Mikey vacates it), but that would entirely depend on how can he can go up rank passing both Haney and Abdullaev. The way I see it, Lopez won't fight Loma this year.

Lopez will get his ears boxed off. This poor child will be lost deep , deep with the oldest annals of the Matrix. They never come out right after that. EVER.

But don't worry, this fight is getting done. Unlike Tank.....i really, truly think that Lopez wants the smoke.

Tank Davis is much more skillful than Lopez, in my opinion. However, his style and build is really tailor-made for Loma. He is probably the only one among Loma's potential match-ups who is not physically bigger than him, which means Loma can flexibly choose either to press or to outbox him with ease like he usually did with his opponents in 130 lbs. I can see why Mayweather wants him to avoid Loma at all cost.

Is he a threat though? He’s a prospect who hasn’t fought anyone yet. GRJ also looked like a million dollars destroying no name opponents (who were better than what Lopez has fought so far). I hope Loma has a worthy adversary in Lopez but he has a lot more to do before the fight is serious. We criticise Loma for blasting out his mandatories who are ex-title holders, we criticise him for fighting multiple weight champions who aren’t seen as a threat.. what would happen if he fought a completely green prospect? Tank Davis hasn’t done much but he’s still done a lot more and proved a lot more than Lopez.

I think Tank is his toughest match up, far more difficult than Mikey or anyone else around the division.
