Tommy Hearns had power that moved with him through the weights. Something about that gangly physique that can hat our devastating power. I don’t think he hits as hard as the likes of Tyson though.
Apparently Ortiz's plan was to keep out of range and box carefully (only winning because Wilder was not throwing probably waiting for the gas to go), then tire after six rounds and start lingering in front of Wilder, barely moving. At the end he decided to stand right in front of the RH at which point Wilder punched him square in the face and KO'd him. I think the reason people were sensing a KO coming was that although Wilder was not throwing, Ortiz was getting closer and closer and hanging around Wilder's strike zone like a bad smell. Either the tactics were dumb because Ortiz never had the tank to keep some agility for 12 rounds, or they were dumb because they thought he could just stand in Wilder's strike zone. Compare this to the Fury fight. Wilder threw a lot more at Fury but struggled to get him, Fury wasn't winning just because Wilder did nothing at all. Fury tried not to plod in front of Wilder. He ultimately tired and got badly caught in the last round, but consider that Wilder needed a lunging RH to get him and Fury was actually taking evasive action still. Wilder didn't even have to stretch to smash Ortiz in the face or track a moving head or anything. Ortiz was just loafing there with a dumb look on his face asking for a flush bomb.
His strategy was the best one available to him given his age, style and technical limitations. He just took his eye off the ball and got clocked by a monstrous right hand. Not much to do in that scenario but go down.
And to think people say ortiz is the bogeyman of the division and nobody wanted to fight him. Yeh, right! Lol Gtfoh...
