yes everything can be questioned here expect running it is a like a north korean truth here it must not be questioned ps i know a long distance runner who tried boxing and had some of the worst stamia i have ever seen and also just to mention was also VERY WEAK.... now we will get attacked
Thanks to everyone who gave me tips so far And a hearty **** u to the rest of you who said I should quit boxing or ¨man up and run¨, I do boxing to stay fit and as a hobby only, Im not planning to become pro or whatever, so I dont really need to do stuff I hate like running miles and miles on dirty roads I just wanna improve my stamina so I dont gas in the 3rd round of sparring like I usually do, and everybody tells me I should run, run, run, and I say **** no, so I keep gassing out and getting my arse kicked if the match lasts longer than 3 rounds, and that's why I need something to replace running. whatever, I've come to the conclussion I need to buy an stationary bike
Cross trainer and similar cross country ski replicating machines. Swimming Cycling Rowing Plyometric circuit training Skipping Shadow boxing Brisk walking John L Silivan style Intense heavy bag drills Sparring etc Try interval training with these include sprint work AND long distance style training at different periods leading up to a fight. (periodization) Doing cardio is like lifting weights, the idea is to build more powerful lungs and heart or muscles than you can by just doing boxing alone. Running can be replaced entrely. However..... Running is one of the best cardio workouts for sure and stood the test of time so if it aint broke why fix it? But... At the same time boxing is held back by this attitude because "it works" isnt necessarily "it works optimally" I mean running is close to being one of the best cardio workouts but it isnt THE best, that would be cross country skiing, triathlons, and interval work Also running can be heavy on the knees so do it on grass and alternate it with swimming cross trainer etc
Bolded. From that list those are the only exercises that I do regularly, specially shadow boxing and heavy bag drills, loads and loads of those. I definetly ain't gonna pick up swimming or rowing, I dont own a pool and I dont have the time to go to a place especially for swimming ( plus I dont even know how to swim ) and it's impossible to practice rowing in this desertic city. Plyometrics look fun, I'm gonna start with those ASAP, cross trainer and other replicating machines will have to wait for now, until I can afford to buy some of them, since my gym doesn't have any of those.
How can you not know how to swim? Dude check http://www.crossfitbrandx.com they have millions of crossfit challenges thtat will improve you cardio.
Stationary bike is OK. I have one too. But i've come to hate it even more than running. So now I run more. It can be somewhat limiting in terms of conditioning, cuz you just get really efficient at the cycling motion. But if you do it with timed intervals fast - slow, then you can really get your anaerobic workout - so it will definitely help your cardio. Just make sure it has a comfy seat, cuz it hurts mah "gooch". Someone here suggested for me to not "sit on my balls" so....i'll just have to try that one day, lol.
A bike can only do so much..try hiking. Throw on a 20 lb ruck and just hike and hike. Bring a music device and some buddies. Go up hill. We would ruck 12 miles for time with about 80 pounds of gear ( weapon ammo ruck 50 pound vest) plus whatever we weighed. It was hard ball but gard work. If nothin else its a damn good leg work out and makes ya sweat a ton. Or you can get some bungee cables secure them into a brick wall and sprint ( i know its running but its not distance). Great workout for your cv system and even a bit for agility when the ropes pull BACK! in my opinion a bike is the lazy mans way out unless you're injured or recovering from one.
oh my bad. forget my original advice where I said to man the **** up. I didn't realize it was just a hobby. Try one of this then. Twice a week and break off during your period. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIHWQWPK1UU[/ame]
I don't know why I can't watch that without feeling really awkward and embarrassed for those people. Even though I have absolutely nothing against what they are doing.
