Once again Flea, I almost entirely agree with you. One point I would mention however from you're original post is that I don't think you necessarily require power to put Pac off. I think if you catch him numerous times with quick single shots he may become hesitant which could lead to Mayweather being able to win rounds by feinting and pot-shotting.

Having said that I don't think Pacquiao would react in this way. He would end up taking shots to land his own. My opinion currently is that Pacquiao wins a clear decision, 8-4. I don't think he will ever be able to stop Mayweather as, I believe, Floyd would rather go into a shell than risk going for a KO.

Get off yer high horse mate. Your opinion is just that, an opinion and there are others who dont always agree. Floyd has proved time and time again he can fight both aggressively and defensively, he has great movement and is just as quick as pac although not as erratic. His accuracy is second to none and he has a proven track record against come forward style fighters.

Pac was beaten twice by JMM imo and his counter punching skills are not as sharp as floyds.

Pac will be beaten by at least 8-4 and when it happens I'll be sure to ressurect this post ;)

PBF will beat Pac Man on points...:deal

He will counter punch Pac Man all night long, may even stop him on cuts with smart, accurate, elusive punching in the Championship Rounds...:yep

Pac Man is awesome, an amazing talent, but PBF is just one notch louder for my money...:deal

I think Pac would give him problems early on but Mayweather would win a UD. I think it would be a totally underwhelming spectacle once Mayweather got into his rhythem. To be honest I dont think the fight will ever take place as even though Id favour Floyd, I really dont think he fancies it.

-All those guys got 'involved' at times. I will also say that Floyd has performed at a higher level than Zapata and Calderon, though of course Zapata has a far better opponent on his resume (albeit in a loss) than Floyd has. I don't think 'poncing about' is bad at all against a consistently high level of opposition/offensive fighter. If Floyd can implement a safety-first gameplan against Pac and win a decision I will give him massive credit. It's that he has done it against the fighters he has that gives me cause for concern.

-I have addressed the stylistic issue and agreed that Pacs opponents have been there to make him look good. Floyd has never fought anyone that should make him (with his awesome defensive skillset and ability that everyone goes on about) look bad and some still have. I think Pac deserves kudos for having performed at a consistently higher level.

-I rate Floyd much higher than Spinks as an operator and in terms of achievment.

I will go on the record as someone who loves defensive fighters; when have I ever been a one-track mind kinda' guy???

Forget 'poncing around' then: the De La Hoya fight showed many, many deficiencies in his fighting DNA.

I agree 100% with this, but also agree with what you posted following that. Because I've seen him deal with adversity far more than Floyd.

Why do you see this NO MAS? Anything stylistically? It can't be based on what he's actually done.

Opinions should be based in reality. Without the facts to back it up, like many here have done, it's baseless.

This is the problem with everyones argument IMO; I don't see this as being the case, based on opposition.

floyd mayweather fought and won in 2 LWW title eliminators before facing the champ. he earned his right to fight for that belt. afterwards he called out tzu at LWW and de la hoya & mosley at WW but they wanted none of him so then he stepped up to ww anyway and fought 2 CHAMPIONS, earning his right to be called WW champ!! then he finally fights de la hoya at LMW. then he defends his WW title against hatton.

pacquiao beat the main man @ LWW and then ****ed off. then he fights cotto, who is OBVIOUSLY ruined at this point (evident in his fight against clottey) at a catchweight for the 147 title? then he defends against clottey, who is renound for shelling up and hasnt fought a good fight since margarito and coming off the back of a loss to cotto ffs? then he fights for the LMW title AT ANOTHER CATCHWEIGHT against a fighter who has had a year out and looked poor in his last fight?

Now it wouldnt surprise me if team pac went after mosley who roache once admitted was too good for pacquiao, thus further manufacturing his resume.

floyd earned his right to be called champ at the weights he fought but ever since pac BEAT marquez he has fought damaged fighters. the day he beats floyd is the day i say he is better.

Couldn't agree more with this post, Pacquiao is far too open for Mayweather.

Whats going to happen when Pacquiao gets frustrated when he can't land his 5 punch combinations because thats only way he is going to trouble Mayweather because Pacquiao isn't a one punch KO artist, he get to his opponents through accumulation.

Because PBF can fight every way. On the front foot, back foot, in the pocket. His defence is 95% of the time genius, he adapts to whatever his opponent does and has only ever let himself be got close to when he has seemed either complacent or a little lazy.

Pacman is brilliant but predictable. He comes forward and likes a fighter who also does. Marquez outboxed him for long spells in their first fight, even with his real domination of Cotto there were a couple of rounds where Cotto opted to box off a jab and move where Pacman did not have as much success.

When he throws the left he is quite open to the counter. PBF is a brilliant counter puncher, moves less in straight lines and is even faster. When Pac attacks he likes to close the gap fire off bunches of shots and move out again, then look for a gap, jump in and fire off another flurry.

Those opportunities are FAR harder against a man who moves and rolls with shots like PBF. A fighter who wants you to attack so he can pick a counter and slide out of range of your attack, and who when the ground is covered and finds himself in the pocket rolls punchs, and nullifys attacks better than almost any fighter in living memory.

That said Pac is awesome, can definitely hurt and stop Mayweather and has power in both hands. If he landed the shot Mosley landed, I would expect a far more varied follow up that could cause huge problems. I also know that PBF likes to take rounds off and Pac wont let him do that. He will pressure him and has the chin to weather the pot shots he has to walk through to get off his own attacks.

It is a fascinating fight and if it ever happens I will cheer for Pac, but if I had to pick a winner, yes I would pick Mayweather.

Some quality posts this morning. BOLD is what I think swings it in Pacs favour.
