For me Haney is the legit belt holder, but I don't think he beats Teo if they fight.... Lopez showed HEART in that 12th round vs Loma.

I think teo is the only legit champ at 135 rn and that if they fought rn teo wins but in 2 years or so that could change haney has oodles of talent

I definitely agree that Teo is the king at 135, but regardless of how Haney got his belt he has it.

I don't like how people are trying to push Teo as undisputed when he's got the "Franchise" belt... Sets a slippery slope of the alphabet boys just appointing who ever they think is the biggest cash cow.

    Just my two cents.

The Franchise championship is a higher status belt than the regular WBC World Title, so Lopez is the real champion.

A bit like with the WBA Super and Regular kind of thing.

Well even the WBC on their website has Haney as official LW champ.
And as far as I understand it the franchise belt is awarded, not won.

As there isn't a "Franchise" Champ in every division like the WBA "Super" Champ.

Again. I definitely feel like Lopez is king at 135.

Hahah us crazies gotta stick together.

Sometimes I feel like I'm missing something but to me it's obvious that Haney holds the belt.

Let's Hope Teo vs Haney happens this year, before Teo goes up.

Teo beat Lomachenko and grabbed belts.

Devin logged into his Hotmail account and became Champion.

    Yup not debating that.

I guess my point is more about the legitimacy of the "Franchise" belt.

Yeah, I don't buy into the franchise label either. It's just glaringly obvious that Lopez is the man at lightweight.

Crazy part is Loma made it clear that he wanted to be undisputed when he was the unified WBA/WBO champion.. Both Haney and Teo did the right thing to make themselves available to fight Loma. 2 slight different decisions change the whole landscape and dictated whole the fight.

The first was Teo went the IBF route who strictly forced their mandatories while Haney went the WBC whom make up the rules at they go. Teo became the IBF mando to fight Commey while Haney became #2 in the WBC and was suppose to fight Luke Campbell for the vacant belt.

The second different decision was who each guy chose as a promoter. Teo signed with Too Rank who had more influence in America and a big 135 stable, while Haney signed with Matchroom/DAZN for much more guaranteed money upfront. Arum appealed for Loma to fight for the vacant WBC belt and with his influence he was successful. Loma won the belt and Haney was his mando and again Arum with his influence appealed for Loma to be franchised and was successful. Teo became the IBF mando, granted his shot at Commey and with a win essentially guaranteed him the Loma fight.

In all honesty it’s an unfair situation for Haney who did the same thing as Teo. But in the words of the great Bob Arum to Haney “You’ll never get that fight because you signed to the wrong promoter”. The blame lies solely with the WBC for making up rules as they go. First franchise wasn’t transferrable and the fighter carried the designation at whatever division they were to now they still don’t know what to make of it.

They kept using undisputed as a buzz word to hype up Loma vs lopez. Lopez is not the wbc champ in my eyes although he clearly is the man at LW
