    Makes me wonder if this is why he's announced his retirement. Technically unemployed with now guaranteed future income so his soon to be ex-wife can't claim a portion of his future earnings as technically he has none? Not sure how these things work but it's just so odd he retired just when he's hit his peak in terms of earnings potential.

    These fighters don't understand basic economics and business

    Lets say you do generate 100m. Well what about all the other people that need to get paid? Promoters, the venue, the people who work in the arena, the people who help the promoters, press conferences, etc.

    The general fact is that you generate the money because of the promoter. You may be fighting, but people don't care about fights without a promotion. You can get big enough to be your own promoter, but there are tons of complexities in that which fighters don't understand. You can be a very popular fighter yet have nobody watch if you don't have the right promotion aka Terrance Crawford.

    I don't think it really works as a strategy as Teofimo doesn't receive a base salary. He's W9 or 1099, so he's basically a contractor. Any cash advances would be taxable for that year, though.

    Bivol allegedly earned $1.5 mill for Zurdo, including his share of the PPV split and that was after coming of the schooling of the P4P#1

    Beterbiev and Gvozdyk earned the same amount respectively for their unification match up with each other.

    Boring jab and grab merchant Haney earned $3 mill against a shot, old and inactive Linares and $2 mill against an even more shot and older 39 y/o shell of Gamboa
