I sincerely hope they aren't doing an Enzo Mac with him, as that can easily ruin a guy's career.

He seemed mentally shaken by the Kovalev loss, and he is young enough to patiently rebuild rather than jumping straight back into a title fight.

I'm not overly impressed by Makabu, but a knockout punch and good chin can go a long way at the higher weights. Cleverly should have a huge advantage in speed and workrate, but all that could be for nothing if he can't keep Makabu off him.

Same for Cleverly, minus getting destroyed by Kovalev, not a net plus. Otherwise it's pretty even, Bellew and Murat vs Kucher and Fields. That's p4p even, Makabu's opponents probably win h2h just by being a lot bigger.

Cleverly needs to get back to 175 an target Shumenov. That's a fight he can win. Perversely I think he had the potential to outbox Kov at least for portions if the fight to make it competive and perhaps could have eked out a decision had he fought to his strengths rather than his opponents. Trading with Kov like and idiot will only end one way - with his opponent seeing stars.

I was surprised that Cleverly went up in weight and yes, I think it's a big mistake...........

If Cleverly could get a fight with Hopkins he would outwork him.....................

I wtill can't figure out that move either. I thought he should try and rebuild at LHW and try to target Brahmer or Hopkins.

if clev sticks at national level or just above it then I'm fine with that. Its when he gets delusions of grandeur that he deserves to get knocked the **** out.

so if he can snatch a SW commonwealth title in the appallingly poor CW division then good luck to him.

Knocking out bums doesnt exactly guage how hard a puncher someone is.

Im sure Nathan would have massive ko percentage as well if he was fighting south african road sweepers for most of his career.

Cleverly is not a World class fighter, never was, never will be, I can't believe there are still people who don't realise this yet.

    Cleverly should fire his manager.

Cruiser has been in very good shape for years, highly competitive & regularly produces great fights.

Probably watched the Kovalev / Cleverly bout and thought we could blow Cleverly away in a couple of rounds. Cleverly isn't a bad fighter, so if they underestimate him they could come unstuck.

To be successful at cruiser weight clev needs a whole new style of boxing.

    Cleverly has pulled out.

He needs a warm-up or two before going in with a top cruiser weight contender.

It isn't just that he needs one or two warmups. He shouldn't have gone up to CW in the first place.
