This is the third fight in recent memory where it's as if one judge is watching a completely different fight. Very odd.
I agree on both points. I thought Hughes ring IQ was outstanding and he pipped Davies by 1 maybe 2 rounds.
It was a close fight other score cards were ok personally had it a draw. But 118 110 Jesus should never have been aloud to ref or judge after helpin clevery to his stool in the kovalev fight
I don't get annoyed easily but he makes my blood boil. I don't think he's incompetent, he's just clearly crooked. Go watch the end of Round 3 in the Cleverley vs Kovalev fight. The beginning of the clip below is literally what he did! Was closely trying to stop the fight, the bell went then he just took him back to the corner. This content is protected
To be honest I'm in shock Terry gave the fight (rightly so) to Fitzgerald. Maybe he got the scores the wrong way round!
Said it before and will say again. Why on earth wasn’t he struck off after Groves Gutchneck!? Never mind all his awful other performances.
The Joe Hughes - Robbie Davies fight wasn’t particularly hard to score other than 1 round where they were both leaning on each other. From round 5 onwards Hughes was clearly the boss, landing more, landing the heavier and cleaner punches. Hughes won the fight by atleast 2 points. Other professionals in boxing scored it for Hughes. Davies presumably got the nod because he holds a couple of straps. You don’t get a pre filled scorecard in your favour just because of your straps. 118-110 for Davies is disgusting. Even 115-113 is corrupt. How can you score it by 2 for Davies! Sky sports commentators yet again silent on the corruption, and endorsing it through their silence.
He must have a grudge against normality cos that scoring was just a joke. He was a really bad ref too!
Spud O'Connor has been consistently miles ahead in the race to be the worst referee and judge anywhere in the world. Nobody comes close and some of his cards are so bad that it is very difficult to believe that it is down to incompetence.
Ian John-Lewis gives him a run for his money with his scorecards. I thought that was a really disrespectful scorecard last night though...118-110, it’s just staggering. Like you say though, he’ll keep getting the gig no matter what.
