I stand by what I say because at least in my own head I know what I mean. "Above average world class" - it means a fighter like Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather can make a "world class" fighter like Clinton Woods and Diego Corrales look like very "average" fighters even though they are ranked as "world class" as in one of the best 10 or 20 fighters in the world. - in the case of Corrales he was NO 2 in the world and Mayweather totally outclassed him and knocked him down about 5 times. Jones and Mayweather can do this because they are "above average world class" and "elite" top pound for pound fighters in the world. I mean Jones had a habit of doing it he made world class fighters look very ordinary and "average" - even guys like Tony Thorton are on the fringes of world class and Jones just had a public sparring session with him for a couple of rounds then knocked him out in the 3rd. I suppose if you wanted a clear standard of what "elite" is instead of some wishy washy idea of what it is - something like the top ten pound for pound fighters in the world could be considered "elite" Hatton was NO 1 at Light Welterweight but still falls short of this "elite" level Hatton has had a very good career - no arguments there. Made alot of money - wan a few world titles - best light welterweight in the world at his prime - he has done well. beat "world class" fighters but when he fought the "elite" fighter in the world he got knocked out.
