I get the appeal given the nostalgia. It will definitely sell well. I don't see Eubank making anything under 158 safely and i don't see Benn being competitve if the weight is too high so hard to see how it works
hearns FED kell brook to a prime GGG at 160, now he's paying stupid money to drain young CHRIS down so that little runt BENNE can tee off on him and look good. probably gonna bang a matchroom stoppage in there for good measure "no one has ever done that to a Eubank koogs, this kid is a superstar"
Non starter. Shoehorning weight divisions. Its unfortunate that Chris Eubank ****ed a bigger woman than Nigel Benn, but it is what it is and Eubank cant drain down that much.
Normally I'd believe even Eddie in this matter because nothing about this fight makes sense for the reasons put so neatly above. However if the fella in the chippy says it's happening that's as good as an announcement. Fight is on, no doubt about it.
From a boxing view point agree about Smith v Eubank. But financially I would imagine Eubank can get £3m plus to fight Benn.
Would be a good way of finding out how good Benn is. Thurman was hugely over rated in the US.. Had a very short peak at the top level and has struggled with injuries and form since loosing to a 40 year old Pac. Would be a good win for Benn if he could pull it off. I've never been sold on Thurman and his experience might be too much but at some point Connor is going to have to step up. Thurman would be a good test.
Hearn would be mad to put benn in with jnr.an unproven at world level welterweight against a guy who’s been chin checked and competitive at super middleweight..insane I say.
If there was anything in this (and it appears there isn't) it would have proved that Benn is either pricing himself out of sensible fights at his current level, or Hearn wants to cash out on the investment he's made.
I reckon DAZN UK subscriptions/income is loads lower than anticipated so they’re going to have to start rolling the dice more to drive numbers up. One poor UK card a month just isn’t cutting it.
And frankly Thurman isn't a name that's going to drive the subs either. Anyone who wanted to see Benn would already be on board (or watched in passing thanks to their Sky sub in the past). Few names are - the whole Benn roadshow has been about building up to a payoff fight and it's clearly nowhere near happening yet.
