Yes, I agree, it wouldn't be the same.

Your girlfriend didn't like the ending? Oh well fair enough, they should definitely change the rules of the sport forever then, sorry I didn't realize that was the situation. If your girlfriend was not impressed, then drastic action needs to be taken to revolutionize mixed martial arts, of course it does. My apologies.

Therefore it wouldn't be MMA. Therefore MMA couldn't exist without submissions.

What are you? 12 years old? Titanic idiot?

Tough doesn't always equal better. Like I said, It takes the tougher, better man to win a fight. Unless it's MMA and then the lesser, inferior man can sometimes sneak in a submission.

It makes BJ the alround better fighter with in the rules UFC provide, whether you win in the 1st 20 seconds or the last 20 seconds thats what UFC is about if you don't like them rules then simply don't watch the ****in sport, pure boxing Mike would beat BJ, it isn't rocket science, 2 completely different trades

If a world class boxer steps in the octagon against a world class MMA fighter, then he is acknowledging that he is OK with the rules of the fight. Otherwise, he shouldn't step into the ring at all.
And if he is OK with the rules of the fight, he has no choice to concede that under the rules in place, the MMA fighter who submits him is indeed "tougher".

If he wants to exert his toughness and superiority via striking, then he shouldn't ever take the chance by competing in an MMA match.

Watch Matt Hughe's choke from tonight's card if there's ever any doubt about the exciting effectiveness of a submission.

Anderson made Chael quit. If he didn't quit he would have passed out.

What more do you want from an ending?

It may not be the same but it could still be MMA. Bottom line is, nobody would watch UFC or MMA if there wasn't striking.

Is anyone here actually arguing that striking is inferior to submissions? Is anyone saying it's less exciting?
I'm certainly not. But I'm acknowledging I enjoy the other aspects of MMA as well. In fact, the diversity is one of the reasons I enjoy the sport so much.

Well duh, there is striking you can throw ifs all you want MMA allows it and it isn't going to change. There are pure grappling comps and submission ones as well (there is also olympic sports but they are sperated into there pure sport as in wresting jujitsu etc) \
Your immature argument lacks any logic what so ever. MMA is mixed martial arts because it is a mixture of everything.
This would be like going in the boxing forum and saying if you werent allowed to the punch to the head in boxing would anyone watch that, its a stupid question because they aren't going to change the rules because of some whinny ***** like yourself.

I ordered the PPV and am glad I got to see it. Roy Nelson has a head of rock and there will be a rematch on the Silva-Sonnen fight. Sonnen performed brilliantly and Silva showed incredible class afterwards.
