how did they bite the hand that fed them? they dont just show GB fights they show other promotors ,they were right to drop the khan fight as the undercard was no ppv and Khan isint the big name he and his team think they are ... so to say they bit the hand that feed them is just stupid
Really. So after the Haye v Harrison debacle we would of had Khan v Mccloskey, Groves v Degale, Haye v Vlad and Khan v Judah. Thats a long list of fights which were not very good!! Like it or not it was better for sky that the last two Khan fights were not on PPV as they both were poor fights with terrible finishes.
The whole promotion was budgeted based on it being a PPV. To pull the plug at the last minute was atrocious. Do you like to do business with people who do that? If the show wasn't PPV worthy, then it should have been decided at the start and not the last week GBP will make more money on this being on Primetime than it being on SKY. This has always been the case but Sky got good pricing based on a mutual understanding and good relationship. Now they are paying the price and consumers of Sky like you are upset. You blame Team Khan when it's not their fault. The people at SKY thought they could stick it to GBP without there being any repercussions.atsch There is no guarantee on how the fight turns out. Were you complaining when Haye v Wlad and Groves v DeGale were announced?:think Exactly...
If your desperate to watch it for free, where there's a will there's a way. I will say no more. Floyd's nickname of Money is for a reason
your making the asusmption that folk are goign to buy it ,there wont be enough buys for this event for it to be deemed a success ... there is only so many boxing hardcores ...
I wouldn't call it a success. I just don't think it'll need to shift a lot to make it more profitable than selling it to Sky. Remember GBP gave the Khan v Paulie fight to ITV for free so I don't think they bank on making much from the UK.
And that's the reason why sky are pulling out of ppv. Nobody knows how a fight will turn out but when ppv after ppv is producing poor fights the network has to make a decision. These ppv's all made sky money but it's not just about that for a network as big as sky.
I can understand the angst & the 4 it's, there is pricibles of course & it's all down to personal choice juxtaposed with affordability. But i'am at an age now that i'am happy to deem myself a full-on 100% hypocrite as i'll buy any fight once there's a few hours to go as i start foaming at the mouth & getting the shakes as i gotta have me battle fix:bbb But i'd definetly advise my son too do the right thing by taking the moral stance & blank it I'am not impressed with Primetime but there getting better & i can see sky's position here, they are not going to be dictated too by some promoter or any fighter. We've had enough rip off's recently & if Prmetime show a fight for £15.00 then it's all down to you. But it is definetly not in GBP interest to alienate a company of the stature & power that SKY have. Vote with yer wallet as they say as i'll def be voting with mine for this fight regardless of morals or princible's as i have none
I have no problem with SKY pulling out of the PPVs. My problem is them not keeping their commitment to complete the one they had agreed to do! And don't kid yourself that its not all about the money with Sky. It's just a case of if they want to make their money short or long term
I'm pretty sure they clocked it. They've put blinds up! Maybe I will, but I'll just put a certain picture in front of it :hey
Well as far as I know Sky wanted an undercard on the Khan v Mccloskey fight and that requirement wasnt met. The fact legally team Khan couldnt touch Sky over the matter suggests they were well within there rights to pull the PPV under the terms agreed. of course its about the money but the dont wanna lose subscribers. I mean Haye v Vlad made them a pretty penny and i'm sure a David Haye comeback would still make them money but sky cant be in a position where it looks like to the subscriber that they are continued to be ripped off.
I usually buy the PPV over an internet stream everytime - better picture quality, better sound and more reliable. However, for the last Primtime show the picture and sound were no better than a decent internet stream and it kept cutting out. This is why I begrudge paying the money to primetime when i'm getting more or less the same thing as with a free internet stream, except with worse production and commentary. Until they can sort this out i'll be streaming I think.
